Personality[]
Maqueena is an eccentric girl who is easily frightened, overly judgmental, and quick to complain or deride people if they are not to her liking. She puts herself first, being open to mistreating and blackmailing strangers for her own benefit. Despite trying to be a bard, her singing capabilities are completely lacking.
History[]
To get by as a resident of Gusteko, Maqueena chose to become a con artist. She outwardly pretended to be a bard as a front for her true profession, At some point, Maqueena perceived the connection between Coatl and the Ice Thieves that accidentally caused an avalanche in the town of Leanotte. As a result of her discovery, she decided to blackmail the man and extort money from him countless times, becoming more adjusted to the layout of the church he resided in as well as the route to and from it with each visit. One day, she arrived at the church to seek out Coatl, only to discover that he was nowhere to be found. Over the course of the day, a blizzard would form, and several more people would enter the church; the second to enter was Podoso, the third was Admonsah, followed by Omega's group and Noelle Tuérico.
After a near death encounter with one of Admonsah's throwing knives, Maqueena acquainted herself with everyone and told the story of Coatl's heroism with her subpar skills as a bard. Since the ongoing blizzard left the group stuck in the church, she attempted to retrieve Coatl's money by herself, but was accompanied by Podoso, much to her reluctance. Trellock arrived at the church around the time she was entering the church's hidden basement, and shortly afterward, she screamed upon the discovery that Coatl had been murdered, inciting a sense of horror in her and everyone else, and quickly took the key to his safe before the others could arrive. As Omega attempted to piece together the circumstances of Coatl's death, Maqueena was in shock to learn of the recent serial murders and objected to the group's quick acceptance of Admonsah when his background and his killing done in self-defense were deduced.
Shortly after Maqueena heard Omega's supposition that Coatl's murderer had the key to his safe, she used pollen from the sleeping flower, Muskrim, to make everyone fall unconscious and quickly attempted to make a getaway. However, she was pursued by Noelle, a survivor from Leanotte's avalanche who joined the Gustekan Church as an Itinerant Preacher to seek revenge against the Ice Thieves for their actions. She was under the misconception that Maqueena was one of their members, and made an attempt on her life until Omega prevented her from being killed. The girl revealed Maqueena's true profession and gave Noelle an ultimatum, ultimately resulting in nobody dying. The next day, Maqueena was bound by a rope for her crimes and taken to Leanotte by Podoso and Admonsah, swearing that she would live a simple life and practice being a bard from then on.
Abilities[]
- Equipment: Maqueena performs using a musical instrument known as a lyulyre (リュリーレ). It is a cross between a guitar and a ukulele in appearance.
