Chaosflame (カオスフレーム, Kaosufurēmu), also known as the Demon City of Chaosflame (魔都カオスフレーム, Mato Kaosufurēmu), is a major city located west of the massive Buddheim Jungle in the Sacred Vollachia Empire and roughly falls under the eastern half of the nation. It is governed by the Seventh ranking Divine General, Yorna Mishigure.

Information[]

Chaosflame is a large Imperial city located at the very south of the Empire, west of the Buddheim Jungle. It got its name as the Demon City, due to a vast variety of different cultures and architectures mixed together as one, making it look like it's in total disarray and chaos. When walking through the city streets, one will find old ruins placed right next to new dazzling buildings, an abundance of tall spires sprouting forth from seemingly random locations, rows of somewhat out-of-place living quarters, lush parks and right next to them, sandy deserted areas reminiscing of long-abandoned parks. Above the streets, one can spot an indescribable mess of wooden scaffoldings that have no apparent purpose and give off a feeling that someone arbitrarily spliced them together and put them up just for show. From a distance, the city looks like it's covered in cobwebs. At the very center of the city, a large glossy-red castle called Crimson Lapis Castle can be observed reaching for the clouds, which also happens to be Chaoslame's widely recognized symbol. All around it, the city streets expand in a circular motion, almost reminiscing that of the Royal Capital of Lugunica.

Another thing that would quickly catch the eyes of a visitor, is the abundance of strange races of demi-humans. Unlike in other areas such as in the Royal Capital, these demi-humans also do not hide their appearances and are not a subject of ridicule and inferiority. They proudly assert their own species in a melting pot of diversity that is the Demon City of Chaosflame. Due to the nature of the city and its inhabitants, Chaosflame also does not hold any majorly-limiting laws. According to Vincent, "the place is a city of vices that ridicules the nature of order". The city realistically follows only one order; disorder.

History[]

Originally built over the desolate lands ravaged by non-stop warfare, the Demon City of Chaosflame was established in order to house a great variety of different races persecuted by the Empire. With having nowhere to go and no one to rely to, a grand city was built and in the middle, a large symbol in form of the Crimson Lapis Castle was erected, constructed by none other than the city's inhabitants themselves. At some point in time, Yorna Mishigure became Chaosflame's ruler through her lineage. The city would also become home to Zoey and Tanza.

When Zoey, who became Yorna’s closest attendant, was killed, the Divine General started a rebellion that wouldn’t end until she had the heads of the soldiers involved in the girl’s death delivered to her. This resulted in a short-lived battle between Yorna and Madelyn Eschart. Their fight coming to a standstill, Yorna conveyed to Madelyn her demand for the soldiers' lives, and she ventured to the Imperial Capital to inform the Divine Generals. Soon afterwards, a great battle between the inhabitants of Chaosflame and the Imperial Army would begin. Yorna engaged two Divine Generals: Cecilus Segmunt and Arakiya, while Goz Ralfon and Kafma Irulux clashed with the citizens. During the fight, a portion of the city was destroyed by Arakiya’s flames, though fortunately, nobody died thanks to Yorna’s usage of the Soul Marriage Technique over the inhabitants. Eventually, the rebellion was quelled when the capture and deaths of the soldiers were relayed to her.

Shortly after the Bloodless Siege of Guaral, the ousted emperor, going by the name of Abel, visited the town while accompanied by five others. At the same time, the false emperor, accompanied by three others, was also there. After a short meeting, Yorna made sure to keep any fighting among the two groups pacified. Of course, thanks to her current attendant Tanza and the Divine General Olbart Dunkelkenn, this did not go so well, as Abel’s group was on the receiving end of the inhabitants grief and rage thanks to the aforementioned persons’ interference. Eventually, when Olbart’s involvement was revealed to Yorna, the two fought against each other, damaging the tower beneath them temporarily, until it was put a stop to by the infantilized Natsuki Subaru.

This victory was short-lived after a great shadow burst forth from Subaru’s body and engulfed the Crimson Lapis Castle. With everyone having retreated, Yorna destroyed the devoured castle in an effort to destroy the shadow, though she failed. With the threat of the entire city being devoured, everyone joined together in an effort to quell it. Eventually, everyone was forced to retreat, allowing Yorna to completely level the city to push it back, with Tanza’s apparent sacrifice putting in the finishing blow.

Locations[]

  • Crimson Lapis Castle (紅瑠璃城, Beniruri-jō): At the very center of the city, circularly surrounded by the city streets, stood a giant red castle called the Crimson Lapis Castle. As the name suggests, the castle was dyed entirely in red. Having said that, according to Subaru, the building is more similar to a traditional Japanese castle than a western/European castle design, though the building materials are different. The building's foundations and framework were made out of blue lapis lazuli, which emitted a deep blue hue. Furthermore, the gems tended to switch colors and emit a bloody-red shade, uncharacteristic for lapis lazuli, making the castle frequently shift colors between deep blue and blood red. According to Yorna Mishigure, the castle's design wasn't her idea, but rather a collective decision from Chaosflame's inhabitants, as they believed their leader shouldn't live in a shabby-looking castle. The servants, who also tended to dress up in Kararagi-styled kimonos, served to further drive the point of the building giving a more traditional Japanese-esque air. As it was home to the Seventh ranking Divine General Yorna Mishigure, the castle was entirely guarded by Yorna's private army, though it was noted that the security was weirdly lax. Upon entering the castle, visitors were escorted to a massive waiting chamber with a wooden floor, where they're left to wait for the lord's presence. The castle was destroyed during the Destruction of Chaosflame.
