Games Masters is an Arena War Adversary Mode in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the Arena War update.
Description[]
During Games Masters, two teams are selected. At the start of a round, one team will begin in the Arena while the other team will be forced into the Spectator Box.
Arena Team[]
The team that is put in the Arena will start off like any other Arena War gamemode. A three-second timer starts, and once it ends, all players will be free to move around. The goal for the Arena Team is to collect as many checkpoints as possible before the 3-minute timer runs out or the entire team is eliminated. The initial batch of checkpoints must be fully collected before the next batch spawns in. Each checkpoint spawns in a pre-determined location.
When someone from the Arena Team is eliminated, they will also be moved into the spectator box, albeit without the features of using the Arena War Wheel and using power ups. They can, however, fly around spectator drones.
When the team is eliminated or the round timer has ended, the teams will be swapped.
Spectator Box Team[]
The team that is put in the Spectator Box can use traps, turrets, RC Banditos, and Battle Drones to keep the Arena Team from collecting checkpoints.
Players can spawn in an unlimited amount of RC Banditos, which can each set up three mines. The RC Bandito has the same features as in all other gamemodes.
Players can also spawn in an unlimited amount of Battle Drones, each equipped with an EMP and self-destruct feature. Although the explosion is less powerful than that of an RC Bandito, it is still able to take out targets effectively. The player can also choose to utilise the traps which are set around the Arena, which are normally unarmed unless a spectator is using them.
Lastly, the player can control remote turrets, each granting access to an unlimited-ammo machine gun, as well as a remote-controlled missile launcher. The missile launcher has a cooldown, but no time limit like the regular gun towers.
Maps[]
There are three variations of Games Masters for each Arena War theme: Apocalypse, Future Shock, and Nightmare.
All three maps are open-space and do not consist of any circuits or laps. The pit lane is closed and fences are enabled.
