「feel like that 〜」は文法的に間違いだとネット(といっても、知恵袋の過去ログですが)で調べると結構出てくるんですが、 The first time I came to New York, I felt like I had a fever. I thought that living in New York would make me an instant success, but the reality is, life in New York can be hard. 上記の文はfeel like that 〜が使われているということにはならないでしょうか？

お示しの I felt like I had a fever の like は従属接続詞として用いられています。 like preposition, conjunction feel like It feels like (= it seems to me) ages since we last spoke. https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/like なので、like の後の that が省略されているわけではありません。
