Yvette Kane is a federal judge on senior status on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. She joined the court in 1998 after President Bill Clinton (D) nominated her to the court. Kane served as the chief judge of the district court from 2006 to 2013. She assumed senior status October 11, 2018.[1]

Early life and education

Born in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, Kane graduated from Nicholls State University with her bachelor's degree in 1973 and from Tulane University Law School with her J.D. in 1976.[1]

President Bill Clinton (D) nominated Kane to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania June 4, 1998. She was nominated to a seat vacated by Edwin Kosik. The American Bar Association rated Kane Majority Qualified, Minority Not Qualified for the nomination. The Senate Judiciary Committee held hearings on Kane's nomination October 6. U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) reported her nomination October 8. The U.S. Senate confirmed Kane by voice vote October 21. She received her commission October 22.[1][2]

Kane served as the chief judge of the district court from 2006 to 2013.[1][2][3]
