E. Richard Webber is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. He joined the court in 1995 after being nominated by President Bill Clinton. Webber assumed senior status on June 30, 2009[1]
Early life and education
Webber graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with his bachelor's degree in 1964 and with his juris doctorate degree in 1967.[2]
Professional career
Webber was a private practice attorney in Missouri from 1967 to 1979. In addition to his private practice work, Webber was a part-time prosecuting attorney in Schuyler County from 1967 to 1975, Putnam County in 1968, and Scotland County from 1969 to 1971. In 1979, Webber was appointed Circuit court judge in the First Judicial Circuit of Missouri under the Missouri Plan and served until his appointment to the federal bench in 1996.[2]
Judicial career
Eastern District of Missouri
On the recommendation of Representatives Richard Gephardt and William Clay, Sr., Webber was nominated by President Bill Clinton on August 10, 1995 to a seat vacated by Edward Filippine as Fillipine went on senior status. Webber was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on December 22, 1995 on a senate vote and received commission on December 26, 1995.[2]
