Richard Paul Conaboy was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. He joined the court in 1979 after being nominated by President Jimmy Carter (D). He assumed senior status on September 1, 1992. His service ended on November 9, 2018, when he died.

Early life and education

A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Conaboy graduated from the University of Scranton with his bachelor's degree in 1945 and from the Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law with his LL.B. in 1950.[1]

Military service

Conaboy served in the U.S. Army as a sergeant from 1945 to 1947.[1]

Conaboy was nominated by President Jimmy Carter on May 29, 1979, to a new seat created by 92 Stat. 1629. Conaboy was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 23, 1979, and he received his commission on July 24, 1979. Conaboy served as the chief judge of the court from 1989 to 1992. He elected to take senior status beginning on September 1, 1992. Conaboy died on November 9, 2018.[1] Conaboy was succeeded in this position by Judge Richard Caputo.
