Janis Graham Jack is a U.S. District Court judge on senior status for the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas. She joined the court in 1994 after being appointed by President Bill Clinton (D). Jack retired from full-time service, assuming senior status, on June 1, 2011.

Jack previously worked as a nurse.[1][2]

Early life and education

Jack received her R.N. degree from the St. Thomas School of Nursing in 1969. In 1974, she obtained a B.A. from the University of Baltimore. In 1981, she graduated from the South Texas College of Law with a J.D.

Professional career

From 1981 until her appointment to the federal court in 1994, Jack served in private practice.[3]

Judicial career

Southern District of Texas

Jack was nominated by William J. Clinton on November 19, 1993, to a new seat authorized by 104 Stat. 5089. She was confirmed by the Senate on March 10, 1994, and received commission on March 11, 1994. Jack assumed senior status on June 1, 2011.[3]
