Robert E. Lewis (1857-1941) was a federal judge on the District of Colorado, Eighth Circuit, and Tenth Circuit courts.[1]

Early life and education

Professional career

Federal judicial career

Tenth Circuit

On March 28, 1929, Lewis was reassigned to the United States Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He assumed senior status on May 31, 1940. He served until his death on July 31, 1941.[1]

Eighth Circuit

Lewis was nominated by President Warren Harding on November 3, 1921, to a seat on the United States Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit vacated by Judge William Cather Hook. He was confirmed by the Senate on November 15, 1921, and received commission that same day.[1]

District of Colorado

Lewis was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. He was nominated by President Theodore Roosevelt on April 9, 1906, to a seat vacated by Judge Moses Hallett. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 10, 1906, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until December 1, 1921.[1] Lewis was succeeded in this position by Judge John Foster Symes.
