Julius Marshuetz Mayer (1865-1925) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit and the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He joined the Second Circuit in 1921 after an appointment from Warren Harding. He joined the Southern District of New York in 1912 after an appointment from William Howard Taft. At the time of his appointment, he was a private practice attorney. He retired on October 13, 1921 and passed away on November 20, 1925.[1]

Federal judicial career

Second Circuit

Mayer was nominated to the Second Circuit by President Warren Harding on September 22, 1921 to replace Henry Galbraith Ward. He was confirmed by the Senate on October 5, 1921, and received commission that same day. He resigned on July 31, 1924. He was succeeded to this post by Learned Hand.[1]

Southern District of New York

Mayer was previously a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. He was nominated by President William Howard Taft on February 19, 1912 to fill a seat vacated by George Bethune Adams. He was confirmed by the Senate on February 26th, and received commission that same day. He served on this court until October 13, 1921.[1] Mayer was succeeded in this position by William Bondy.
