Elisha Hume Brewster (1871-1946) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He joined the court in 1922 after an appointment from Warren Harding, filling a new temporary seat. At the time of appointment, Brewster was a private practice attorney. His seat became permanent on August 19, 1935. On October 14, 1941, he assumed senior status. He served until his death on April 29, 1946.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

District of Massachusetts

Brewster was nominated by President Warren Harding on September 20, 1922 to a temporary seat created by 42 Stat. 837. He was confirmed by the Senate on September 22nd, and received commission that same day. His seat became permanent on August 19, 1935. On October 14, 1941, he assumed senior status. He served until his death on April 29, 1946. Brewster was succeeded in this position by Arthur Healey.[1]
