"The C.R.E.E.P. Show" is the twelfth episode of Monsters at Work. It aired on April 5, 2024, and is the second episode of the second season.
Synopsis[]
The MIFTers join Mike and Sulley in representing Monsters, Inc., at the C.R.E.E.P. Show, an energy convection where they hope to promote laugh power to industry professionals.
Plot[]
Still reeling from his humiliation, Tylor is invited by Val to join the rest of MIFT to the C.R.E.E.P. Show (Convention for Resourceful Energy Efficiency and Power). Upon returning to the MIFT office, Tylor is surprised by the appearance of his replacement Roger Rogers, an ecstatic monster who has already won everyone over, including Duncan. Fritz puts all faith in him by giving him the keys to all of Monsters, Inc.'s facilities and to hold the fort while they are away, though upon leaving Roger looks conniving.
Mike, Sulley, MIFT, and Needleman and Smitty arrive at the convention where they plan to hold a presentation on laugh power. Duncan proudly shows off his model of Monstropolis while Needleman and Smitty prep the energy canisters they plan to use for the presentation, among them being the can that Tylor accidentally mixed the laugh and scare power with. Inside, the group is despondent to see that their booth is located in the Alternative Energy (and other hare-brained ideas) area, only half of one and in the corner with other monsters barely noticing it. Tylor also gets mocked by a trio of young monsters who recognize his blunder at Monsters University.
While setting up their presentation, Sulley becomes visibly nervous, much to Mike's concern as he very rarely ever gets nervous about anything. Sulley hopes that they can convince the public about laugh power over scare power. Tylor becomes entranced with Johnny Worthington and his FearCo. presentation while elder monster founder of Scare Masters Alistair Clawbottom denounces the use of laugh energy. When Tylor is once again mocked by the young monsters, Tylor literally destroys the Fear Co. scare machine with his scare abilities, shocking and impressing everyone, especially Johnny for the latter.
Monsters, Inc. finally puts on their presentation where Mike tries to wow the crowd with his humor and a nervous Sulley tries to follow. Sulley manages to work up the courage to go off script and get in touch with people over what laugh power can do. They use Duncan's city model to demonstrate the differences in power from both a scare and laugh canister. Tylor notices that the laugh canister is the one that he accidentally mixed. Needleman and Smitty reveal that they had once accidentally mixed the energy when they were cleaning the cans and that it could result in them blowing up.
While Mike and Sulley successfully show off the energy differences, Tylor manages to sneak the laugh canister away as it begins to rattle. As he does so, the city model catches fire, Duncan is left hanging from a rope, and a shocked Cutter is left agape at the scene. Tylor uses her duffel bag to sneak the laugh canister away, ultimately disposing of the contents via the bathroom toilet.
Afterwards, the group leave the convention with Tylor assuring Val that everything is fine now and that she does not need to worry about him. Johnny catches up with Tylor who gives him his card in case he decides to switch companies.
