Josh Rivera is a character from the 2001 Disney•Pixar animated feature film Monsters, Inc..
Background[]
Rivera is a tall slender mollusk-like monster with two eyes located on the top of his head on small stalks, six long tentacles which he uses for arms, and four short tentacles which he uses as legs, making it a total of ten tentacles. He also has an orange skin all around his body with green and fuchsia-patterned stripes around his legs as well as having a turquoise snake-like tongue.

Around the time when Boo escaped into the Monster World, Rivera started working with various other monsters who in Monsters, Incorporated. At the Scare Floor F, Rivera started collecting screams with the help of his assistant, Betty during a competition with other scarers. Throughout the competition, Rivera was placed into fifth place on the Scarer's Leaderboard far behind James P. Sullivan and Randall Boggs. Later scenes feature several incidental monsters who use the same model as Rivera such as the waiter seen in Harryhausen's.
After Boo returned to her home in the Human World and later the Scare Floor turned into a Laugh Floor following Waternoose's arrest, Rivera and the other monsters began to collect energy through laughter instead of screams, adjusting to the new method.
Rivera later participated in the company play "Put That Thing Back Where It Came From or So Help Me" with the other monsters.
Monsters at Work[]
Josh Rivera appeared in the episode "Bad Hair Day" where he plays a minor role in the series. During a discussion between Tylor and Roze about someone who left their purse in the latter's office, Tylor approaches Rivera who tells him if he left his purse, which the latter denies, telling him that his purse has a J on it just before Tylor continues discussing with Roze that he was trying to be a good MIFT employee, especially during the moment where Monsters, Inc. pays a tribute to David.

- Rivera is likely named after Jonas Rivera, an art department manager who worked on Monsters, Inc.
- Rivera has a striking resemblance to Tony who serves as the owner of a grocery area in Monstropolis, due to Rivera using the same model as the latter. However, unlike Tony, Rivera lacks a fifth leg and a mustache. Additionally, several incidental monsters use the same model as Rivera such as the waiter at Harryhausen's.
- According to Rivera's Scare Card, he attended the Vicious State where he majored in Criminal Justice and three years later, he discovered his scaring talent where he attended a job at Fear Co. and then Scream Industries prior to working at Monsters, Inc.
