“Trailer Son: "Mama! Another gator got in the house!" Trailer Mom: "Another gator?! Gimme that shovel! Come here!" Trailer Son: (as his mother repeatedly whacks Randall with the shovel as he screams in pain) "Get him, Mama! Get that gator!" Randall: "Aaaahh!"”
―The Trailer Folk, after Randall is thrown into their trailer home
"When Randall is exiled to this ramshackle mobile home in Louisiana, he quickly turns into trailer trash! The inhabitants aren't scared of large reptiles — they live by an alligator-infested swamp — and Randall soon gets a good hiding courtesy of the trailer mom and a shovel. To add to his misery, there's no way back. Mike and Sulley have destroyed the door to Monstropolis."[3]
Their only appearance in the movie is after Mike has Sulley throw Randall into their trailer home through their closet door and then destroy it to banish him to the Human World.
Only their shadows are seen through the trailer window as the son calls to his mother that another "gator" got in the house; the way he says it, coupled with the presence of a shovel and the glee they show beating him up, suggests that gator intrusions are fairly common. The mother then tells her son to give her a shovel, which she then uses to beat up Randall as her son cheers her on.
In the last episode of season 2 "Powerless", Randall reveals to Tylor Tuskmon that he was saved from being beaten to death by "swamp people", thanks to Johnny Worthington, who scared the trailer residents and brought Randall back to the monster world. It is unknown how Johnny was able to get access to the trailer door, as it had been destroyed by Mike and Sulley near the end of the film. However, it is highly likely that Fear Co. did own a copy of that door, making Johnny able to save Randall, shortly after being banished. This is implied in the previous episode, when it is shown that Monsters, Inc. and Fear Co. both own a copy of Ben's door.
“Mama, that gator's the house again!" "Are you kidding?! Oh, this time, he's in for it. C'mere, you!”
―Trailer Son and Mom before beating up Randall once again
The trailer folk make an auditory cameo in Kingdom Hearts III. After Randall is banished back into their trailer, they are heard recognizing Randall before beating him up once again.
Trivia
The trailer makes a debut cameo in A Bug's Life in the background when Flik goes to Bug City, which is located under said trailer. However, no residents make an appearance.
A Pizza Planet Truck can be seen to the left of the trailer, just like in A Bug's Life.
According to the commentary of Monsters, Inc., the "boy" is actually the model of the simulation kid wearing a cap, while the "mom" is a bigger version of said model with a "bun" placed on the head.
When Sulley throws Randall through the door leading to the trailer home, a Nemo model can be seen inside just before Mike closes the door and shouts, "And he is outta here!" This is a reference to Pixar's next film, Finding Nemo.
The father makes his first appearance in Monsters at Work, albeit only in male voice. The father's voice actor in the series is unknown. He was also given the name of "Cletus", making him the only one of the trailer folk to have a name.
The mother also received a different voice actress.
