Marilyn is a character introduced in Season 2 of the Disney/Pixar animated series Monsters at Work.
Background[]
Personality[]
Marilyn serves as the neighbor of the Tuskmon family living in Monstropolis. In "It's Coming From Inside the House!", she is shown to have a curious personality in trying to find products with her pet, Chauncey, being picky on trying to help her find products with good deals and are of good quality such as Scare Cards which are of good condition without any damages - regardless if they are rare or not. Marilyn is also a bit of a cheapskate, offering a small amount of cash to a decades-worth collection of scare-cards and only barely goes higher until competition forces her to give a very large amount to purchase the cards.
Physical appearance[]
Marilyn is a long-necked monster who has the head of an avian-like creature resembling that of a flamingo or a vulture with a reptilian-like body - specifically resembling that of a lizard. She is shown to have a coloration of lavender skin all over her body as well as a pattern of dark stripes as well as having two hands with three claws sticking out. In addition to these, Marilyn also wears a teal scarf monster around her neck named "Chauncey", which is actually her pet who often accompanies her owner. She is also shown to wear a pair of glasses located below her head as well as having black hair on the top of her head curled up by seven pink rollers.
Role in the series[]
In "It's Coming From Inside the House!", Marilyn grabs a plate during the stoop sale, commenting on its design while telling her pet Chauncey to not be picky about the things she is buying. She also comments to Millie that she is excited of the items sold during the stoop sale, just as she explains to Millie that her pet Chauncey is always looking for products that are of low price. Amongst the products Marilyn finds are Scare Cards, which she tells Millie that Chauncey may have seen better, but Marilyn adores the item she is buying. However, Millie tells her that the sale is not open yet, just as she tells Tylor to come. Tylor becomes protective of his Scare Card collection, telling Marilyn not to buy it; Millie realizes that Tylor did not fill out a lot of things to sell, telling him to return to his room to pick up some more things to sell to the neighbors.
Later, Fritz approaches Millie, offering her fifty dollars, which Marilyn overhears and becomes outraged for a high price, telling Fritz that the point of haggling is to get the price low. As the MIFTers show Marilyn the products, Millie decides to open her stoop sale. Marilyn later admits that her pet Chauncey was right all along, because the stoop sale at Monstropolis has very expensive costs, planning to go to the estate sale for a better deal. Tylor later approaches Marilyn, showing her the collection of Scare Cards which Millie approaches Tylor and explains that he didn't want to sell his cards to her, which Marilyn apologizes to Millie for her family's bad situation, planning to offer Tylor $3.16 for the cards. The MIFTers then pitch in to prove the cards' worth, forcing Marilyn to raise her offer to $1,000. Millie then sells the cards to Marilyn who was waiting in line for three hours, which Tylor decides to sell the cards to Marilyn, as she plans to cherish the cards all the way to the bank.
