"It's Coming From Inside the House!" is the fifteenth episode of Monsters at Work. It aired on April 20, 2024, and is the fifth episode of the second season.
Synopsis[]
The Tuskmon family is having a stoop sale, but Tylor struggles to part with his childhood scaring memorabilia.
Plot[]
Val attempts to test her jokester abilities in the testing room, which apparently is so effective that it causes the dummy to literally laugh its head off. Mike and Sulley come by and see what has happened and despite Val believing that she has done something terribly wrong, Mike and Sulley are impressed.
Duncan, still going off his hunch that Tylor is the leaker, has made it his goal to out him. At the Tuskmon household, the family has decided to hold a stoop sale (as opposed to a yard sale), with all the MIFTers coming over to help. The Tuskmons' neighbor, Marilyn and her husband/pet/scarf, Chauncey arrive to look over some of the wares. They take an interest in Tylor's old scare card collection, but Tylor immediately becomes protective of it. Val arrives and decides to help Tylor dig through his things to figure out what he wants to keep.
Bernard continuously argues with his mother Virginia about her currently living with them. Virginia has become suspicious as his claims that she was kicked out for being loud and opinionated. Duncan is able to make him way into the Tuskmon household to find possible evidence of Tylor duplicating the work key, by offering to help Virginia repair the phone, falling head over heels for her in the process.
Val helps Tylor try to figure out what he plans to get rid of and what he plans to keep. It slowly becomes apparent that Tylor mainly wants to keep his scarer memorabilia, implying that he still thinks of his old goal. Val admits that she envies the fact that Tylor has found something he is passionate about while she is still stuck trying to figure out what she wants to do.
After Duncan helps fix the phone, since it turns out to be unplugged, and delusionally gets his heart broken, Virginia once again calls Creaky Oaks and learns that she wasn't kicked out. She yells at Bernard for a straight answer and he reveals that the real reason they took her out the home was because they can no longer afford to have her stay there and that they barely able to afford rent. As Tylor and Val head downstairs to help, Duncan sneaks into Tylor's room, but finds no evidence of any wrongdoing, much to his dismay.
Hearing about his family's financial troubles, Tylor decides to sell his Scarer card collection to Marilyn after she initially showed interest in it, but she only offers $3.16 for it. The rest of the MIFTers pitch in and expand the offer to prove the cards' worth, forcing Marilyn to raise her offer to $1,000. While Tylor is sad to see his cards go, he is happy that the money will be put to good use. In the evening, over dinner, Virginia reveals that she used to be a Scarer until she had Bernard, and that the only thing she was scared of was living with regret. After Val makes a joke, Bernard commends her, reinvigorating her desire to be a jokester.
Tylor still feels concerned for the future and begins to seriously consider his job. Back in his "office", Duncan sobs over not finding any evidence on Tylor and "losing" Virginia.
