Physical appearance[]
Cutter is a teal three-eyed crab-like monster. She wears a builder jacket and helmet with a Monsters Inc. symbol. She has four crab-like legs. She also has blue arms.
Role in the series[]
In "Welcome to Monsters, Incorporated", Cutter is first seen removing the letters spelling the outdated slogan saying "We Scare, Because We Care" when Tylor Tuskmon passes by her on his way to Monsters, Inc. Later when Tylor enters MIFT, Tylor encounters Cutter roasting a sandwich with her blowtorch and later when Tylor asks Fritz to know what MIFT stands, Cutter helps Fritz get ready for his presentation for Tylor. During a presentation, Fritz explains that employees at MIFT embrace the company with unbridled anticipation of what challenge lies ahead, explaining that at the end of the day, the coworkers say that they are proud to be a member of MIFT, the Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team which Cutter replies that she never said this phrase. As Fritz welcomes Tylor to the Monsters, Inc. Facility Team, he gives Tylor his employee file while Cutter gives Tylor coffee which Val explains to Tylor that the coworker who gave him coffee was Cutter and the one who put the muffin on his desk is Banana Bread who brings in his namesake food every morning. Back at MIFT, Tylor approaches Val, Banana Bread, and Fritz putting up a welcome party for David only for Cutter to interrupt, telling him that they already lost him. Later, Roz's sister Roze gets Mike's attention and introduces herself to Mike, explaining that the workers at Monsters, Inc. delivered the kid's hat and ID while Cutter, Val, Banana Bread, Fritz, and Duncan approach Tylor whom they think that he was supposed to get appreciation donuts for them while Roze formally welcomes Tylor to Monsters, Incorporated.
In "Meet Mift", Duncan is questioning Cutter to know if the slogan should be "It's Laughter We're After" to which as Duncan discusses with her with another slogan the company should come up with. Fritz then tells a story to Tylor that ever since Monsters, Inc. was founded, there was a need for the unsung heroes of Monsters, Inc. getting surprised by Cutter, Duncan, Banana Bread, and Val which Tylor finds out that it's an initiation ceremony. Fritz offers Tylor to use a wrench on a nut only for it to fall via manhole, while Fritz tells Tylor to cross through a door with Cutter serving as his guide only for the ceremony to be cancelled due to a power outage happening in Monsters, Inc. Later while Fritz shows Tylor everyone's table as Fritz tells him that he and his friends will double his desk with his very own nameplate, Cutter and Duncan listen to him presenting Tylor his own desk which Tylor explains that he won't be at MIFT that long which Duncan and his support animal Roto listen which the two don't trust what Tylor is saying just as Cutter, Val, and Fritz plan to give Tylor another surprise while Duncan plans to surprise Tylor with some canister refurbishments while being given a manual of how to disable the canister before it causes havoc only for the canister to ricochet across MIFT while Cutter and Banana Bread react to it as the former says, "Time for lunch". Later in a plan to rescue Mike Wazowski who is trapped in a door during a power outage, Fritz tells Duncan to get Cutter followed by Val and Tylor being next while Banana Bread stays during class with Ms. Flint. Arriving at the door where Mike is trapped, Fritz orders Cutter, Duncan, and Val to add power to power the door which Mike escapes while Fritz tells Duncan to rescue Mike and as the door starts spinning, only for the plan to become worse; to Tylor's determination, he was able to wrench the nut to set the arrow to reverse while Duncan manages to put the door back in place with Mike safe and sound. Back at MIFT, Fritz offers Drooler Cooler soda cans as a celebration for the MIFT team while Banana Bread enters the MIFT facility which Flint tells the team that Winchester is needed on the Laugh Floor, which Flint discusses that she was intrigued by Banana Bread's nuanced insight on comic theory as she found out that he was acting hilariously. Soon as Winchester leaves, Cutter, Val, Fritz, and Duncan continue their celebration with a piñata party while Tylor adjusts to getting used to working for MIFT.
In "The Damaged Room", Cutter tells Tylor to wear his helmet while dealing with a damaged room which Fritz offers him a helmet to wear while dealing with the room while Duncan asks Fritz to know if he should send Tylor to deal with the problem which Fritz tells him that Tylor will do fine. In a plan to repair the damaged room, Val and Tylor approach Cutter, Mike, Sulley, and Celia which Mike tries to make sure to get Snore out of her room while repairing the door which Mike feels unsure of what he and Sulley should do with Snore in her room to avoid letting the door end up the same way they did with Boo just as Mike takes a bucket from Needleman to get the baby out of her room for safety which Mike and Sulley were able to do so while Cutter, Val, and Tylor are tasked to repair the damaged room before it becomes a dead door.
As they enter, Tylor gets himself wrapped in tape while Cutter plans to free themselves. Val tells Cutter and Tylor to repair a chair rail with nail guns to which Duncan tells the three that they are running out of time just as Cutter plans to have a lunch break as she leaves the room. Tylor attempts to leave the room, but Val tells him that they're not done yet; Tylor then kicks the soccer ball which ricochets into a switch disabling access back to the Laugh Floor. Back at the Laugh Floor, Cutter returns from her break and approaches the deactivated door and reactivates it, telling Tylor, Duncan, and Val that they were unaware of the door being deactivated, just as the three manage to leave safely while Mike and Sulley manage to return Snore back to her room.
Trivia[]
- Cutter is supposed to resemble a safety cone in reference to her work.
- She has a habit of reminiscing on prior MIFT workers who died in terrible, yet ridiculous, accidents.
- She used traps to catch her ex-husbands which ironically none of them succeeded in doing so.
- In addition to her many ex-husbands, Season 2 reveals that she also used to date a female monster named Sunny Sunshine, who then became her work rival after they broke up. It is revealed that they only broke up because Cutter bought her the wrong type of orange juice but they restart their relationship at the end of the season.
- Cutter and Sunny are the first LGBTQ+ couple of the Monsters, Inc franchise.
