My highly-trained inspection orbs will seek out the malfunction and report back to me what happened and who is responsible.
Argus Blinks[src]

The Inspection Eyes are characters featured in the Disney/Pixar animated series, Monsters at Work. They are eight sentient eyeballs who work for Argus Blinks to see what happened in Monsters, Inc., like when a power outage happens.

Background[]

Personality[]

The inspection eyes are a group of eight highly-trained sentient eyeballs which move around independently working for Argus Blinks of the M.E.R.C., the Monstropolis Energy Regulator Commission. They are shown to be intelligent in looking for culprits who caused the outage, showing they obey Argus' orders. Though they do not speak, they are capable of searching for actual causes of problems and are capable of traveling via pneumatic tubes, the only ones who can travel to these tubes, due to their small size.

Physical Appearance[]

The inspection eyes are eight white eyeballs that are identical to each other. Each of the eight eyes have a gray iris with a black pupil surrounding the iris.

Role in the series[]

In "The Cover Up", Sulley is discussing with Argus to know if he should take him to the control room, which the latter replies to him that his eyes can see everything. Soon as Argus opens his suitcase, he explains that his highly-trained inspection orbs, eight individual eyeballs, will seek out the malfunction and find the culprit who caused the power outage. Argus' inspection eyes then plan to travel via pneumatic tubes to find the culprit who caused the power outage. As one of the eyes travels to MIFT, one of them passes by Roto in his cage who snarls ferociously at it. Another eye then arrives at the generator room where Duncan is discussing with Tylor telling him to follow his orders planning for a "coverup" and as the eye listens the conversation, the inspection eyes return to Mike's office. Just as the inspection eyes return to Argus, he reports to Mike that the cause for the power outage is inconclusive. One more eye arrives at the office into Argus' suitcase where it stares at Argus, explaining that he must have someone responsible for the power outage as he plans to arrive at the ground control.

Soon as Argus arrives, he punishes Tylor, Duncan, Val, and Cutter for violating numerous M.E.R.C. codes as the inspection eyes found out the cause which Argus scolds Duncan for being responsible for the actions of his team as temporary supervisor, threatening him to be fired from his job or banished from his company, which Tylor replies to him to give him a break. Argus tells the MIFT team that he has been working non-stop as a M.E.R.C. official for twenty years only for the canister that was stuck on the ceiling to fall on Argus, knocking him unconsciously which Duncan and Tylor toss him through the vacation door. Just as Tylor and Duncan discuss with Val and Cutter that nobody saw Argus being tossed away, the inspection eyes then notice of what Tylor and Duncan did to Argus. Soon as Tylor and Duncan plan to close the case, the eight inspection eyes start scrambling and attempt to retrieve Argus back and as they attempt to escape, the MIFT team and Roto plan to catch the eyes and prevent them from escaping. Tylor then tells Val, Duncan, and Cutter to get the eyes to which during the chase, Tylor, Cutter, Val, and Duncan attempt to retrieve the eyes stopping them with numerous obstacles including Roto attempting to help the MIFT team, which they were able to put the eyes back into Argus' case. All eight eyeballs were placed back into Argus' suitcase, including one that was flattened by Duncan during the chase. Two weeks later, Cutter reactivates the vacation door where Argus returns which he leaves, albeit leaving his case in the ground control, followed by Fritz returning from his vacation break.

Trivia[]

  • The way Duncan flattens one of the eyes and then puts it back in Argus' case implies that the inspection eyes are not real eyes but rather inflatable eyes.
