Gary Gibbs is a minor antagonist in the Disney/Pixar animated series, Monsters at Work.

Personality[]
Gary is an egotistical, smooth-talking, quick-witted monster. He, in many ways, shares some similarities to his rival and cousin Mike Wazowski. Both of them make jokes and tend to talk their way in and out of situations. The only difference is that Gary seems much better at it than Mike as he is able to gain Roze's favor. However, he hates to lose and will genuinely become cross at the thought of getting bested by Mike.
Physical appearance[]
Gary resembles an almost exact mirror image of Mike. The major difference is that he is blue, has small black nubs as horns and has a brown eye. One minor difference is that he is slightly smaller than Mike.
Role in the series[]
In "The Big Wazowskis", Gary Gibbs approaches Roze telling Mike to "approve" his paperwork which Gary apologizes to her that he wasn't able to finish his paperwork last night while practicing for the bowling tournament so he can again, much to Mike feeling jealous of Gary rivaling with him. Later, when Mike discusses with Val and Tylor, Gary arrives and overhears the conversation between Mike and Val and as Mike approaches Gary, the latter tells Mike to spare the humiliation of losing to him during the tournament again which Mike tells him that he's sponsoring a "team" which Gary rolls a bowling ball to hit all four balls to result in four strikes, much to Gary's worry. Tylor approaches Mike who wishes him luck on beating Gary only for Mike to reply that he doesn't have a team, deciding to recruit some expert players.
Meanwhile at MIFT, Tylor recruits Fritz, Val and Cutter who would help Mike beat Gary except for Duncan who watches them play, followed by Mike and Sulley being recruited to be part of Tylor's team. Later when Tylor hangs out with Mike and Sulley, they pass by Gary who is talking to Roze in her desk and as Mike hears the conversation of Mike stuck in the bowling ball return machine only for Mike to interrupt Gary's conversation with Roze just as Mike approaches Gary. While discussing with Gary, Mike tells him that he has a dream team explaining that the losing team has to do the other's paperwork for a month which Gary accepts his offer.
After the Big Wazowskis win against the Sliding Slugs during the first match, Mike discusses with Gary at the cafeteria, telling him that the Big Wazowskis defeated the Sliding Slugs, due to Needleman declaring the former as the winners which Mike sends Gary to do his paperwork as well as being his butler for a month, followed by Mike discussing with Tylor that after the Big Wazowskis won a match against a group of bowling pin-shaped monsters known as the Pinheads, he tells him get ready for the final match against Gary Gibbs, just as Mike tells to win him a dinner at Harryhausen's just as Mike wishes Tylor luck.
Back at the bowling alley, Needleman and Smitty announce the final match at the Bowl-off-a-thon between the Big Wazowskis and the Garys featuring Gary Gibbs himself. After Tylor apologizes to the team that he lied to them, planning to forfeit and lose the match to Gary, Needleman hears Tylor allowing Gary to win; however, Fritz interrupts, telling Tylor that he realizes that when he's part of a team, he stands up for his teammates Fritz, Val, and Cutter, telling Tylor to remain loyal by his team's side as Tylor discusses that he is the team captain who will lead the Big Wazowskis to victory. During a match between the Big Wazowskis and Gary's team, both teams end up getting competing each other each getting strikes during the match which results in both teams to win - albeit in a tie. After the game, Fritz, Val, and Cutter praise Tylor for his team's win while Mike tells Gary that he doesn't have to do his paperwork or be his butler which the latter replies to know who gets a dinner for two at Harryhausen's. Later at Harryhausen's, Mike places his order during dinner followed by Mike telling Gary to know what his order is. Later in the said episode's Mike's Comedy Class segment when Mike teaches a group of coworkers including his rival Gary about a topic on how to ignore hecklers which while Mike is talking to his comedy class, Gary replies that he forgot a lot about comedy only for Gary irritate Mike, much to his frown.
In "Bad Hair Day", Gary approaches Roze, telling her that he finished his paperwork early this week which Roze praises him for his appreciation in doing his paperwork only to Tylor to interrupt the conversation between the two.
Trivia[]
- Gary's last name is a reference to late Pixar animator Rob Gibbs (father of Mary Gibbs, voice of Boo). The first episode in which he appeared, "The Big Wazowskis", is dedicated to him.
- On top of that, his name is also a potential play on Mary Gibbs' own name, switching out the M for a G.
