Captain Beatrix is a recurring character in Amphibia. She is the older sister of Captain Grime, the lord of the West Tower, and one of the three Toad Lords commanding the Toad Army.
Appearance[]
Body[]
Captain Beatrix is a short, middle-aged toad with swamp green skin and a light green underbelly. She has dark green spots on her. She has a few pointy grey teeth in her mouth. She has deep green hair tied up in a braid with a dark brown hair tie. Her right eye has a green pupil, no iris and green sclera, and the left had a lavender sclera, a light pink iris and no pupil. This eye also has a scar around it.
Clothing[]
Beatrix wears a stained purple uniform with ochre buttons, spiked, flat, round shoulders with bristles and a belt with a gold death's-head moth buckle. She also wears long ochre gloves with brown ends. In season 3, her right shoulder pad is replaced with a green Frobot head.
Personality[]
Beatrix is the toughest toad warrior in all of Amphibia, according to Grime,[1] as well as being very skilled in the art of war. Beatrix also loves to taunt her brother every chance she gets.
Background[]
Plans to conquer Amphibia[]
Sasha, Grime, Percy, and Braddock go to the North Tower to expose their idea to the Toad Army of taking over Newtopia and all Amphibia. Beatrix along with the other captains, Aldo and Bufo, like the idea, but don't want Grime or Sasha to lead it, to which Sasha impulsively accepts Captain Aldo's challenge to get Barrel's Warhammer to prove his worth and win the support of the toads. After a fight against a giant worm, Sasha and Grime get the hammer, enlisting the help of the Toad Army in their plan of conquest, but are abandoned by Percy and Braddock, as Sasha shows how little she cares for their safety or themselves.[2]
After learning of King Andrias' true intentions, Beatrix sends a letter to Grime informing him that she and the Toads accompanying her have managed to escape and go into hiding, planning to regroup to fight Andrias.[3]
Joining forces with the Wartwood Resistance[]
In order to gain more allies for the Wartwood Resistance, Sasha calls Beatrix to a meeting for the Toad Army and the resistance to join forces against Andrias. Beatrix however is reluctant to join forces as she finds the idea of toads helping a frog resistance laughable. However, Sprig then tells her about his duel with Grime, which she thinks is funny and can now use to ridicule her brother. She was about to leave when Grime then challenges her to a standard one-on-one arena combat, where the loser's army will enter the winner's, to which she accepts, but by the law of Toads she must choose her combatant, and Beatrix chooses Sprig.
After resolving their differences and joining forces, Grime manages to train Sprig to fight as a Toad against Beatrix. In the arena, Sprig manages to escape and outwit Beatrix, but she manages to catch him. When she is about to defeat him, Sprig channels his rage and with a strong headbutt knocks her down and defeats her, winning the challenge. Beatrix then admits that the frogs' way of fighting is very impressive, and agrees that the Toad Army will join forces with the resistance.[1]
