"Sasha's Angels" is the first segment of the twelfth episode of the third season of Amphibia, and the ninety-fifth episode overall.
It premiered on April 2, 2022, alongside "Olm Town Road".[1][2]
Synopsis
A team of Resistance fighters gets captured by ruthless marauders.[2]
Plot
At the Resistance Underground Base, Sasha and Anne give a group of rebels (Mrs. Croaker, One-Eyed Wally, Maddie, Loggle, and Toadie) their mission; get their stolen weapons back from a marauder's camp. While everyone is getting briefed, Toadie decides to do what he always does; stay in his comfort zone and act as the lookout, despite encouragement from Mrs. Croaker to adapt and see that he's capable of so much more.
The team find the base, but it turns out to be a trap. Anne and Sasha manage to escape, but everyone else is captured. Anne grows worried that the team needs them to intervene, but Sasha convinces Anne to spar with her, having faith that the team will be alright.
The leader of the Marauders turns out to be Barry, who plans to sell the rebels to Andrias as he pays a hefty price for them. Mrs. Croaker leads the team with an escape, but Toadie stalls in front of one of the Marauders who picks him and tosses him at Mrs. Croaker, knocking her out and getting everyone captured again. When the Marauder destroys Toadie's belongings, he finally snaps and changes his appearance before putting together a more effective escape plan. Outside the camp, Anne and Sasha continue to spar, with the former becoming increasingly agitated over leaving her friends to their own devices. She tells Sasha that the Wartwood citizens are important to her and that she cares about them and accuses Sasha of only seeing them as soldiers.
Sasha calmly assures Anne it isn't like that, but before the argument can go any further, Sasha and Anne are alerted to an explosion and discover that the rebels have taken over the base. They manage to get all the supplies, including the food, and blow it up. As the heroes return to Wartwood, Mrs. Croaker congratulates Toadie for finally getting out of his comfort zone. Anne apologizes for her accusation and Sasha forgives her, letting her know that she and the Wartwood citizens have been through a lot together during Anne's absence from Amphibia. She tells Anne that as leader, she has to make difficult decisions, but she's truly come to care for the Wartwood frogs. Sasha has learned that sometimes, being in charge means it is necessary to have faith and trust in others which she confirms is from Anne's influence, which causes Anne and Sasha to have a heartwarming moment.
Meanwhile, the Marauders are devastated over the loss of everything, including their food. However, Maddie had transformed Barry into a bird again and when he asks them what they'll eat now, the Marauders close in on him with hungry looks, much to Barry's horror.

Trivia
- Viewership: This episode was watched by 0.29 viewers on its premiere.[4]
- This was the first episode (along with "Olm Town Road") to be produced in 2022, according to the credits.
- Toadie was previously seen without Mayor Toadstool after a cameo in "Plantar's Last Stand", but this is the only time he plays a major role without him. He also played a major role in "Battle of the Bands" while separated from Mayor Toadstool for nearly the whole episode.
- This marks Barry's first appearance in Season 3 since he was mentioned in "Escape to Amphibia" and his first physical appearance since he debuted in "Cursed!".
- At the end of the episode, Barry nearly swears when the Marauders want to eat him, as the word after he says "holy" is censored with a chicken screaming.
- The movement Toadie does while avoiding Brian's attacks is the same animation from the Amphibiland pilot version.
- This is the only episode in which only one main character is present.
- This is the only episode where Anne appears without any of the Plantars.
- This is the first episode in which Sasha physically appears in the present time without Grime.
- Even though the events of the episode are shown in Marcy's Journal: A Guide to Amphibia, Loggle is not mentioned or seen in Entry 113.
Revelations and significant events
- There is a renegade group called "Marauders", who are neither on the Resistance's side nor on the Andrias' side.
- However, it's later revealed that they can, in fact, work for Andrias if they were compensated enough.
- Barry has returned to his normal form, as well as becoming the leader of the Marauders.
- However, near the end of the episode, Maddie transforms him back into a chicken, commenting "Not again!", hinting what happened to him in "Cursed!"
- In the entire time Anne and the Plantars were on Earth, Toadie never made the effort to adapt to Amphibia's changing times like the rest of the Wartwood Resistance. By the end of the episode, he develops a wilder side that shows he can be a leader.
Continuity
- The events of "Cursed!" are referenced.
- Maddie still owns the Sprig voodoo-style doll seen in "Hop Luck".
- Anne and Sasha are once again seen getting into a sword fight with each other after "Reunion" and "True Colors". This time, it is a friendly sparring match to train them for when they get into a real fight with King Andrias.
- This is also the last time they do so, and the only time Sprig wasn't involved in it or it holds any real malice, although Anne was upset with Sasha for seemingly leaving the Resistance members to die.
Allusions
- Charlie's Angels - The title of the episode is a reference to the popular franchise. The promotional poster also resembles the poster for the 2000 movie.
- Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Anne says "On your left," a line repeated by Captain America throughout the film.
