Humans (Homo sapiens) are the dominant sentient sapient species on the planet Earth.

Background[]

Humans are a fairly technologically advanced species occupying 21st-century Earth. In 2019AD during the 13th birthday of the human girl Anne Boonchuy, she along with her friends, Sasha Waybright and Marcy Wu, were teleported through the Calamity Box that Marcy found, to the world of Amphibia.[1]

Being new to Wartwood, the amphibians at first feared Anne due to her being a strange and intelligent mammal species that they had never encountered before.[2] Captain Grime was also highly suspicious of Sasha initially due to similar reasons and questioned her background.[1][3] However, the rest of the valley has not been explored in the series and it is likely that there are amphibians who have encountered or have knowledge of humans. One such being Valeriana who owned a stall in the Bizarre Bazaar selling artifacts and relics she had acquired from her years of travel throughout Amphibia. When Anne asked Valeriana if she had seen anything like her, she replied "Not exactly", which indicates that she might have known a human but of different features, like race, skin color, height, hair color, etc.[4]

While they might not be technologically advanced when compared to Andrias' invasion force, the humans who are affiliated with the United States government (including the Federal Bureau of Investigation) and the US military are the nation's most powerful and advanced military currently on the planet able to quickly respond to the invasion thanks to the Boonchuys' as well as Mr. X's warning giving the US weeks to prepare before the invasion starts. While seemingly in a fighting retreat against the invaders, the US military with members of the Wartwood Resistance, the Boonchuys, and Mr. X's FBI branch were able to slow down or push back against the invasion. This forces the Core, annoyed of the invasion going far from planned, to call in Andrias to deal with Anne, which he challenged Anne to a duel. In the end, Anne was able to defeat Andrias while the Core was defeated by Sasha stopping the invasion and a victory over the invaders for the US as well as rest of humanity.[5]

Abilities, pros and cons[]

Multiple times throughout the show the differences of human physiology versus amphibian physiology have affected the plot.

In "The Third Temple", the accompanying Plantar family and Grime dry up becoming disorientated, slow, and weak. Meanwhile the human trio of Anne, Sasha, and Marcy were unaffected by the aridness and capable of pursing the temple. While amphibians freeze into ice cubes during immense cold, humans can survive due to their warm blood. This resulted in Anne being the only one to guard amphibians in the episode "Snow Day" from the Giant Weasel.

Generally humans are relatively more durable and stronger compared to most amphibians, as non-fully grown humans are strong enough to handle the soldier/warrior class of amphibians being toads. At the same time humans have a glaring weakness of incapability of hopping or amphibian-like locomotion. This was most evident in the episode "Contagi-Anne", where reaching the "Peak of Health" is no problem for amphibians due to their jumping ability, while Anne had to climb up very slowly and dangerously which could have ended her life and the Plantar family. Also humans generally have problems with dealing with water and cannot deal with as much comparatively to amphibians, at least not at lethal levels.
