Matthew "Matt" Benjakarn Braly (born November 8, 1988) is a Thai-American animator, writer, director, storyboard artist, and producer, best known for creating the Disney Channel animated series Amphibia.
He also voices Chuck Gardner, a Newtopian gatekeeper in "Marcy at the Gates", the Seamstress, a red-eyed frog and a gourd carver in "The Shut-In!", Frobo, other Frobots, and various characters on Earth.
Biography[]
Braly graduated from the California Institute of Arts with a major in character animation. He interned at Pixar and had a job as a story artist at DreamWorks. He joined Disney Television Animation in 2011. Braly had previously worked on Gravity Falls and Steven Universe, as a storyboard artist and revisionist, as well as working on other Disney shows such as Billy Dilley's Super-Duper Subterranean Summer, Big City Greens, and DuckTales. He also worked on the DreamWorks 2013 film Turbo. He left working for Big City Greens in order to create his own animated series, Amphibia. His mother, On, voices Anne's mother Mrs. Boonchuy.
After the production of Amphibia ended, Braly left Disney after years of collaboration.[1]

Trivia[]
- The appearances and names of Anne's cat and Kill-a-moth, Domino and Domino 2 respectively, are based on Matt's real-life cat.[2][3]
- In 2016, he won an Annie Award for directing the Gravity Falls episode "Northwest Mansion Mystery".[4]
- He has said he was the "Marcy" in his friend group.[citation needed]
- Prior to the announcement of The Art of Amphibia, he shared multiple times on Twitter that he hoped that Amphibia would get an art book, containing all production designs from all three seasons.[5]
- He considers "The Hardest Thing" his favorite episode in all of the series.[6]
- He makes a cameo as himself in the episode "Sprig's Birthday".
- Season 3 is the only season that he did not write any episodes for, but he did some of the storyboard for "The Beginning of the End", though uncredited.
- He and Adam Colás co-wrote Marcy's Journal: A Guide to Amphibia.
