Research data management

Research data management (RDM) unites all of the activities involved in the publication of research results: the creation, processing, archiving and publishing of data. Since it is now requested by many funding institutions, RDM has become good scientific practice (recommendations and guidelines by funding bodies). Publishing companies and periodicals also increasingly require the provision of data on which a publication is based. The resulting extra work involved at the start of a research project is usually rewarded by the much smaller workload during the research process, and the ability to reuse and share the data.
