Retrodigitised items
The retro digitisation team at our Rethen site scans selected collections from the TIB's older holdings, mostly from the 19th and early 20th centuries. We make the digitised material available online, if it is copyright-free (author: deceased for at least 70 years) or we have the permission to do so.
Searching for digitised items
You can search for digitised material in our viewer. Here you can also search in the full texts created using optical text recognition.
The viewer's start page also offers access options for content and subject-related searches and an overview of all retro-digitisation services. The central element is the virtual reading rooms, which provide a subject-specific introduction (such as Mathematics, Technology or Natural Sciences) or access to certain special collections (e.g. the Haupt or Max Planck collections).
Notes
The latest publications of digitised material are displayed in the ‘New Imports’ section.
The image display contains the image navigation, the zoom bar and the option to manipulate the image (colour and contrast control), if desired.
You also have the option of displaying the table of contents of the work, the page preview in the form of thumbnails, the bibliographic data (author, year of publication, publisher, etc.) and the full text, which has been generated from automated text recognition and serves as the basis for the full text search.
The licence applicable to the work is shown in the access restrictions. The legal information on the terms of use of the respective work is listed.
‘Cite and reuse’ offers a variety of options for downloading and citing the entire work, individual pages or even the generated full texts in various file formats, e.g. as a PDF.
The ‘Table of Contents’ is based on the structural data we have entered (e.g. preface, table of contents, chapters, supplements, etc.). It provides direct links to the relevant pages without tedious scrolling.
TIB Digitisation Service
Via the TIB's digitisation service, works in our holdings (which are free of copyright) can be suggested for digitisation free of charge.
