Publishing OER

Open Educational Resources (OER) are freely accessible educational materials that teachers can use free of charge, adapt to specific teaching and learning contexts and further develop (collaboratively). The basis for this is, on the one hand, open licensing and, on the other, the use of standards that also ensure the technical openness of digital materials.

Advantages of open educational resources

The use of open educational resources can support teaching staff in designing new courses. In addition, publishing one's own OER offers the opportunity to make one's own teaching expertise visible in the scientific community.

The OER portal www.twillo.de

Twillo is the central platform of the state of Lower Saxony for open educational resources in higher education. Teachers can search for, find and publish teaching/learning materials here. In addition to this portal, twillo offers extensive advisory and training services to support teaching staff in creating open course materials. The focus here is on legal, technical and didactic aspects in particular.

The twillo search is based on the Open Educational Resources Search Index (OERSI). This is an open-source application that searches various OER repositories and displays their results in a bundled form. This allows interested parties to conveniently start search queries on twillo and receive an extensive selection of OER that they can use in their own teaching.
