Saien is a thin, lanky man with blue hair and thin black facial hair. He wears a white coat over a navy shirt, along with purple pants, a green sash, and a purple and pink turban.[1]
Personality[]
Saien is a kind individual, devoting his research to the safety of travelers by reducing the number of hostile animals. However, he is also careless, accidentally allowing a Sandora Lizard to escape.
While sitting in the Sandy Desert, Saien was approached by the Straw Hat Pirates. He asked them to aid him in recovering his escaped Sandora Lizard, explaining that he was under the effect of experimental chemicals that make him docile. When the Straw Hats accepted, he instructed them to find his camel, who had the Sandora Lizard bait. He explained that the camel was being chased by the Lizard due to being sprayed with a Sandora Lizard-attracting scent, and sent them to the Sandy Ruins.
In the Hysteria version of Sandy Desert, Saien watched as Fazaza kidnapped a child, and later revealed his hiding spot to the Straw Hat Pirates while noting that he smelled like a Sandora Lizard.
Some time later, the Straw Hats returned, informing Saien that they had found Matsuge, his camel. However, they had eaten the Sandora Lizard chasing him, and so couldn't return him. Despite this, Saien paid the reward in full, stating the he still learned new information; that Sandora Lizards are edible.
