Zaraza is a bandit leader living in the Sandy Desert in the Arabasta Kingdom. He pretends to be a guide, and his bandits steals travelers' supplies while he distracts them. He appears in One Piece Odyssey.[2]
Appearance[]
Zaraza is a slim man with fair skin, a square jaw, thin eyebrows, a slim nose, narrow eyes, and a brown mustache. He has brown hair that is combed back. He wears a yellow and red-striped headband, a yellow and brown v-neck shirt, a beige robe with dark green lining, a maroon cardigan, and a spotted green sash.[1]

Zaraza is well versed in the desert, using his knowledge to steal from less knowledgeable travelers.
Like many others, he has a unique laugh: "Smehehehe" (localized in English as "Fafafa")
History[]
One Piece Odyssey[]
Zaraza waited near the Nanohana entrance to the Sandy Desert when he was approached by the Straw Hat Pirates. They asked for directions to Rainbase, and Zaraza realized they've never been to the Sandy Desert before. He began explaining the directions, warning them to be careful of bandits in the desert, when his band of bandits attacked. The Straw Hats easily defeated the attacking group, but in the confusion Zaraza and his subordinates were able to take their supplies and escape.
Knowing that travelers will usually follow, Zaraza ran to the east wall of the desert, leaving a group of bandits there. He then returned to his hideout on the west side, satisfied that his theft was successful. However, he's soon surprised by the Straw Hats, who had defeated his decoy on the east side and found out about his hideout from there. He attempted to defeat the pirates, even calling on a Desert Bananawani he had made an agreement with. However, the Straw Hats easily defeated his band and the Bananawani, taking back their food and his stored treasure. As they left, he admitted he would likely give up on being a bandit, as the Desert Bananawani was the only reason the bandits listened to him..
Reunion of Memories[]
In the Arabasta Memoria where Crocodile took over, Zaraza is a Navi Bird keeper instead of a bandit. Due to a Juracho attack, he lost his birds, and collapsed outside Nanohana, where he was found by the Straw Hat Pirates. Chopper treated his wounds, and the pirates helped him find his birds in the desert.

Trivia[]
- The reason for Zaraza having an alternate persona inside Hysteria is unclear. This quirk is unique to him, as other characters appearing both inside and outside Hysteria all maintain their normal selves.
- His name is a Russian word (зараза) for a disease-causing agent spread by microorganisms.
- Following the Russian theme, his laugh sounds like "Smehehe", the first part of which happens to mean "laughter" (смех) in Russian.
