The Dragon Nation / Meili's Witchbeast Observation Record (親竜の国/メィリイの魔獣見聞録) is a Toranoana shop exclusive limited edition short story that came with Volume 32.
Meili is wondering how she ended up in her current predicament. A red-haired youth is assuring her that there's no need for her to be nervous. He then asks her how she was able to tame a witchbeast on her head. The beast with pincers swings and raises its tail stinger in an attempt to intimidate the youth, but he remains calm. Amongst the ongoing commotion, Meili still wonders... “How did it come to this?”
Before this incident, Meili recalls how Subaru and Emilia extended a hand to her at the Pleiades Watchtower whilst within the garden of Roswaal Manor. In the middle of her deliberation over her circumstances, Annerose appears and mentions how Meili has a serious face. They begin to converse about if it's okay to be in such a relaxing place when everyone else was busy with other things, and Annerose reassures Meili that's it's okay. The two look at the Agaress flowers in front of them, and after Meili relays how Petra takes care of the flowers, Annerose responds by saying she is a talented child who Frederica and Clind praised a lot. She then moves to how her “uncle”—Roswaal—has a responsibility for Emilia and needs to follow it. Meili questions how everyone else was able to forgive Roswaal, but then mutters to herself about how she is here because of them.
Suddenly, Clind appears from behind and addresses the pair. He says that the two have waited for long enough, though Meili is shocked and accidentally lets out a quick scream. Meanwhile, the unaffected Annerose asks Clind about the status of Anastasia and the others, and Clind responds by saying that they were successfully sent away. He apologizes for scaring Meili, but feels delighted to hear that the duo had mentioned him before his arrival. After affirming that there was know problem with Anastasia and Julius, Annerose asked Meili if she was prepared to head off, but Meili was unsure of what to expect of their impending visit to Lugunica Castle. Responding with confidence, Annerose tells Meili that she received a plan from Roswaal. After attempting to ward away Meili's worries, she calls out to Clind and asks if he has sufficient compensation to leave. He affirms this, and after being given permission, he uses his Authority to immediately teleport all three of them to Lugunica's Royal Capital.
Meili is astonished by Clind's power of teleportation, and the trio is surrounded by yet another garden. She questions who owns the garden that they're currently in, then Annerose tells them that they're about to find out when figures begin to start rushing towards them. Her eyes widening, Meili realizes that they're the Kingdom's knights. The leader of their group is a man whose face is like a rock, and he asks where the three came from. Annerose says that she knew her method would be rude, but that it was the fastest way to settle the issue. The man quips back, wondering who her uncle is, and Annerose replies that it is the margrave of the west, Roswaal L. Mathers.
The scene changes to an old man with a large beard who is surprised about Annerose's relation to Roswaal. While Annerose looks dignified and claims that she can't take that as a compliment, Meili is dumbstruck by her irregular situation. Immediately after it was disclosed who Annerose was, the three were immediately taken to a conference room within Lugunica Castle, and the one who welcomed them was the bearded old man who served as the Council of Wise Men's representative . Remarking how Roswaal sent a child in his place, a bald man with thick eyebrows crossed his arms and expressed disdain towards Annerose. She responds by questioning if her age is a problem and saying that the Council of Wise Men's members are old themselves, he attempts to respond with another comment. However, their representative responds with laughter to the bald man, Bordeaux, saying that she had him there.
At Annerose's impolite response, Bordeaux expresses his thoughts to the representative, Miklotov, saying that the message they received from Roswaal via a carrier bird meant that this was not the time for laughter. Miklotov retorts by voicing his understanding of the situation's gravity and addresses Meili, asking her if she could truly manipulate witchbeasts and clear a path to the Augria Sand Dunes. She affirms this, and a majority among the Council of Wise Men's members ponder over the reply with commotion. Despite this, Miklotov doesn't lower his gaze and continues staring directly into Meili's eyes, and while feeling as if he is staring into her heart, Annerose drowns out some of Meili's timidness by telling her to hold it together.
Believing that Meili has good eyes, Miklotov appraises her and finally lifts his gaze. This relieves some of the pressure on Meili, but not before she realizes that he isn't an ordinary man. Annerose asks if the Council of Wise Men believed them now. However, although Miklotov declares that he sensed no lies within Meili's eyes, he instead suggests that there needed to be some additional fact checking and claims that he has the perfect person for it. Confused at who this "perfect person" is, Annerose and Meili's eyes widen, and Miklotov caresses his beard in response. He then demands for Reinhard van Astrea, who personally knows what the sand dunes are like from a previous visit. After her cheeks stiffen, Meili realizes that the discussion to resolve her fate from here on out was unlikely to get easily settled.
