JUNIMATION

What can I say about this film that hasn't already been said? Certainly, in my second viewing after seeing it in the cinema (fun fact: my first review for this film was my second review on this platform), certainly everything about it is still awesome.

Although it clearly influenced future films, notably those made by Dreamworks, the animation still feels fresh and original. In fact, I was surprised by how little "The Bad Guys" and "Puss in Boots 2" borrowed from this film. What makes this film's animation truly remarkable is that it is not a single style but rather an amalgamation that are seamlessly and spectacularly interwoven.

Furthermore, Miles Morales is a very great character who I enjoyed following, and his relationship with this Peter Parker past his heyday is great. At first I was worried that this would be another "Homecoming"-style situation in which Morales is pushed to the side, but the movie does a fantastic job of making sure everyone has their moment in the spotlight without losing sight of the fact that it's Miles Morales' story. His bond with his father, and the way it ends, almost brought tears to my eyes. While I was amused, I never laughed out loud, and I found that many of the jokes and antics, especially those involving characters like Spider Man Noir and Spider Ham didn't have the same impact as they did the first time around.

Last but not least, the music is still a banger. "What's up, Danger?" still being my second favorite Spider-Man song behind "Hero." And Daniel's score is similarly amazing, adding a lot of excitement to the film.

All in all, although in many ways it lost some of its initial "greatness", this was still a blast of a film.
