"Anyone can wear the mask."
Not only is this surprise animated Spider-Man feature a lot of fun, but it also tells a worthy and earnest, touching story. Putting Miles's origins onto the big screen is risky, despite the character's popularity, but if being nominated for an Oscar isn't a good sign....
The cast are all a treat to enjoy. Moore, Johnson, Steinfeld, Cage, Ali, Schreiber, and Hahn are all really fantastic.
Pemberton's score - his theme - is memorable, and goes really well with the music topped onto it. The animation is spell-binding, and beautifully done. The film's unique look gives it a different kind of very kinetic energy.
Lord's and Rothman's screenplay is good, but, perhaps, not everything it could be. It relies on some so-so dialog, and it misses out on a couple of moments that would show characters being more intelligent than we got.
It's still so enjoyable, and such a rush. It features a really rewarding and thrilling superhero self-actualization for Miles.
