"Shirley B. Awesome" is the thirty-fourth episode of the first season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. It premiered on September 28, 2015.

Synopsis[]

The team are zapped into a backyard world where they are military action figures and Sashi meets her hero, General Shirley B. Awesome.

Plot[]

The episode starts at The Odyssey where Sashi is destroying a bunch of robots as part of a training simulation, with Phyllis applausing at her for her performance. Sashi tells her she is annoyed about her coworkers didn't show up for practice, which Phyllis tells her they may be busy with important stuff. Penn then shows up riding Boone like a horse and stopping at the zap platform. Sashi, annoyed, tells them they missed practice, which Boone tells her he was practicing being a horse while Penn tells her he was practicing being a "giraffe riding a horse". Penn and Sashi start discussing before they, and Boone, get zapped in.

The heroes get zapped as soldiers in what Penn thinks to be a jungle until Sashi tells him they are actually action figures in a backyard. Penn gets impressed at seeing a bazooka in his arm while Boone gets impressed at a frying pan in his back, which he first struggles to pick it up due to his action figure body's articulation. Sashi then tells the mission; they are part of the Kick-Bad-Guy-Butt Division from the Plastic Forces toyline. They have to recover a toy helicopter a kid named Grick recieved after the Rough Jerks squad stole it to steal all the other toys in the neighborhood. Penn tries to sketch a plan on the ground, but a general ruins the sketch with her foot, annoying Penn. The general hits Penn by spinning her arms before introducing herself as General Shirley B. Awesome. Shirley tells them they have a mission to accomplish and commands the three heroes to move on as she and the heroes go to the other side of the backyard.

At the treehouse, Rippen is watching Shirley and the heroes as he asks his minions when is the helicopter operational, which Larry tells him when the light changes from red to green. Rippen then uses Larry's eye hole as a telescope to get a close view of the heroes before announcing his plan to steal all the neighborhood's toys, having plastic grenades, sponge missiles, toy tanks and a countdown bomb that glows in the dark as armory. Larry sees a button on Rippen's waist and presses it, causing his hand to shoot off and causing the armory, except the bomb, to blow up.

Shirley and Sashi reach the other side of the backyard as they see Larry confronting a squirrel, who has Rippen's hand its mouth before it grabs Larry and crawls away. Shirley and Sashi go in their way to the tree house while Penn and Boone cover themselves in garden gloves. The four hide as Penn and Boone high-five using their garden gloves, annoying Shirley and Sashi. Sashi climbs up and sees the Rough Jerks guarding the tree house. Shirley says it is great to have someone on her team who is not acting like "a preschool toy", referring to Penn and Boone. Shirley tries to tell the plan, but is interrupted by Penn, who tells his plan; he and Boone let themselves get captured, so they can trick the Rough Jerks to enter a cooking contest. He and Boone will then cook a steak that is actually a disguised bomb, so the Rough Jerks explode when they eat it. He then tells Shirley that she and Sashi will beat the surviving enemies with their attacks. Shirley then tells her plan to Sashi; she will sneak in and take down enemies one by one. Then, she will signal Penn and Boone by making ambulance sounds and, finally, she will fly back to the backyard with the toy helicopter. Penn asks who wants Shirley's plan by raising their hand, prompting Sashi to raise hers. Penn gets flabbergasted as Sashi tells him Shirley does things like, for her, a real hero would do. Shirley then goes towards the Rough Jerks and takes them down alongside Sashi while Penn, seeing the two working together, says he should be more like her. However, the two girls get captured by a net.

At the treehouse, the batteries are fully charged, so Rippen commands a minion to put them into the remote. Rippen then sees Shirley and Sashi captured in white threads and tells them about his plan to steal the other toys. A minion, speaking through the walkie-talkie, informs Rippen about capturing Penn and Boone, so he commands Larry to bring them. Sashi tells him she is sure Shirley has a plan, which she tells her she has never been in a mission before and that she pretends to be tough to hide how she feels alone on the inside. Larry then speaks through the walkie-talkie that they are having a cooking contest and that Penn and Boone are backing away. Rippen tries to tell him it is a trap before it is too late and explosions occur outside the treehouse, with Larry's head flying away and landing in front of Rippen's feet. Penn and Boone jump into the treehouse, so Rippen tries to shoot them with his arm cannon, but the two dodge them as Penn uses Larry's head to cover Rippen's arm cannon.

The four go to the helicopter as they see the remote control tied to the countdown bomb, with Rippen activating the countdown. Shirley goes near the bomb as Rippen tries to shoot her using Larry's head as projectile, but is quickly stopped by the three heroes. Boone then tries to cut through the threads with his knife to no avail, with Rippen, as just a head, telling them the white threads are dental floss and that it can't be cut. Shirley angrily kicks Larry's and Rippen's heads away as she tries to rip them up to no avail. She tells the three heroes to go into the helicopter so she can fly them back, but Sashi tells her she doesn't want to leaver, which she tells her it is an order. The heroes mount on the helicopter as Shirley flies them back with the remote control. She then uses the speaker on the control to give a speech before the bomb explodes.

At night, a medic reassembles Shirley back together as she wonders what happened. Shirley says she can't believe they came back for her, which Penn tells her that is what friends do, leading Shirley to thank him, ending the episode.
