"Defending the Earth" is the twelfth episode of the first season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. It premiered on March 16, 2015.

Synopsis[]

Boone finds himself on the most popular game show in the galaxy where he must compete against Rippen in an outrageous contest that will determine the fate of the Earth.

Plot[]

The episode starts with Boone telling jokes to Penn and Sashi as they go to the next mission. Penn tells him he should do stand-up shows, as he sees him do a stand-up tour with lots of people watching. However, Boone gets scared as he imagines himself in a stand-up, staring at the audience very nervously. Sashi notices Boone standing still with a nervous face, so Phyllis appears and drops water on him, bringing Boone back to his senses. Boone tells his friends he has a fear of public speaking, so Penn tells him to picture the audience in underwear. The heroes then zap into the world as Phyllis hopes it isn't an underwear world.

The heroes are zapped in the White House, with Penn being the president, Boone being a supreme court justice and Sashi being a general. Boone confuses his robe for a skirt, thinking he is a girl, until Sashi tells him that is the the supreme court justice's robe. Penn, finding out he is a president, tries to mess with the president's phone, but Sashi tells him not to do that, as a president is supposed to sign bills from the legislative branch of the law. Penn looks at a pen in his desk and decides to play with it by clicking it, but he gets bored quickly. Penn asks Sashi to tell the mission and she does so: they don't have to pass a bill, but, however, stop an alien attack instead.

One of the aliens' UFOs destroy the White House's ceiling as the aliens come down and attack the heroes. The heroes hide behind the desk as Penn says the aliens have a weaknesss and that they have to figure the weakness out. So, Sashi sprays water at one of the aliens, but nothing happens, concluding it isn't water. Boone opens the window to expose sunlight towards the aliens, but nothing happens again. Penn tells him that is a vampire's weakness as he plays a guitar, but a laser is shot at it, concluding that country music isn't their weakness either. Boone tries to feed an alien with garlic, but Penn tells him that is a vampire's weakness again. Rippen, being the alien leader, lifts the heroes with a yellow-orange beam as he contacts with an alien minion to set the laser to the "destroy planet" option. Rippen then tells the heroes that the humans' brains will be melted and turned into meatloaf, with Penn asking if the melting would ruin the meatloaf. Rippen then tells Sashi if she has anything to ask, with her telling him that if he has a skull, she would crush it. Rippen then asks Boone if he has any last words, with him saying he objects. A gong sound is heard as a tractor beam abducts both the heroes and the villains towards a huge, spherical spaceship.

They are abducted into a dark room as the tractor beam splits in two and places the heroes and villains in two flying platforms. Both start looking around in confusion before the room lights up, revealing a huge audience of aliens as a voice welcomes the alien audience to an episode of "Outer Space Court Live": a show where intergalactic disputes are held. The announcer then announces that, in this episode, Rippen, being called "Ugthar The Ugly", wants to blow up Earth and that defendant Boone, being the supreme court justice, objects and that's up to him to give his reason for why Earth shouldn't be blown up. Boone gets very anxious as an alien cinematographer records him. Penn tells him to relax as he thinks not many people view the show, but the announcer says that their audience consists of billions to decide the winner as he tells the audience to cast a voice for either of them. The announcer then introduces the guests: Jorlanx, the alien animal wrangler, Vick the Destroyer and his Funshine Minions of Doom, an alien music band and Bruce Vilanch, who is trapped in a glass capsule filled with water along with three electric eels. The announcer then introduces the show's host, Judge Blort Clooney. The judge then notices Vick's missing flipper as he points it, with him explaining that he got into an accident. The judge and the audience shout it's time for "Opening Statements" as two tractor beams lift Rippen and Boone and put them in a platform together, with two desks for each.

The judge then asks who has a reason to blow up Earth and not to blow up said planet. Rippen presses the buzzing button on his desk as he commands for his aliens to blow up Earth, but the judge stops the aliens with his gavel, saying he can only blow up Earth if he wins the trial. Sashi notices Boone becoming anxious again, so she and Penn decide to grab the alien cinematographer, who is using a jetpack to fly, to get the judge's attention. The judge asks Boone to tell his reasons for why shouldn't Rippen blow up Earth as Penn, grabbing the alien cinematographer, tells Boone to picture the audience in underwear. Boone presses the buzzing button on his desk to tell his reasons, that being that the Earth is round. However, he gets anxious as he questions whether Earth is round or hexagon-shaped. The judge tells him he got it wrong and that the Earth is round. Penn and Sashi try to object, surprising the alien audience, including Principal Larry. The judge tells the two only the supreme court justice can object, so he and the audience announce that they are out of the game, sending them to a platform surrounded by electric chains by a tractor beam.

The judge then announces that the episode's punishment is brought on by Jorlanx. The judge welcomes him as he asks him how is his wife, with him saying that he ate her. The judge then tells the audience to watch out for Jorlanx as he points out that he is dangerous and that, if he were to be eaten by Jorlanx, they should tell his kids that he loves them. The judge tells Jorlanx what did he brought to punish Penn and Sashi, so he takes out a green creature and tosses it at where Penn and Sashi are. Penn holds the creatur as he is about to tell something to Boone, but the creature starts slapping his face, causing the audience to laugh.

The judge then announces a challenge round, where the contestants have to traverse through dangerous obstacle courses. Larry tells to one of the alien spectators that he is friends with Rippen, which he denies. The platform Rippen and Boone are standing on splits in half as the judge as one of them to spin the Testimony Wheel Of Doom, so Rippen spins it. The wheel lands on an icon of a pogo stick, leading to Rippen hop around in one as he evades from explosions in his path. Boone spins the wheel, landing it on an icon of a boulder, leading to him running around in circles as he escapes from a boulder. Rippen is then opening a door out of three, leading to an alien tentacle grabbing him. Boone spins the wheel again, landing on a monster icon, leading him to be chased by Grinkon. The judge and the audience are laughing at Boone and Rippen while Penn and Sashi are still dealing with the green creature. Another gong is heard as the audience shout it's "Time To Roll The Dice Of Closing Legal Arguments That Augment But Don't Take The Place Of Statements Previously Argued In These Proceedings", so the judge gives the dice to Rippen and he rolls it. The dice is about to land on the "Instant Win" face, but lands on the "Deadly Obstacle Course" face instead, leading him to travel through a course filled with dangerous obstacles, such as axes, explosions and spikes. Boone rolls the dice as it lands on the "Interpretive Dance" face.

The judge reminds him that an audience of billions is watching, causing Boone to become anxious. However, Penn tells him to picture people with underwear as he is getting slapped by the creature. Boone, hearing what Penn said, imagines the judge wearing red underwear as it starts talking to Boone, telling him he has nothing to fear, but he tells it that he is worried about making a mistake. The underwear tells him the only mistake isn't expressing himself and also tells him he has good ideas. It then tells Boone that his friends believe in him and so do it. After the imagination, everyone is staring at him, waiting for him to answer as Bruce Vilanch asks if he can go to the bathroom before getting electrocuted by the eels. Boone then tells his reason for why Earth should keep existing, talking about the sciences and art humanity discovered over the course of history. After telling his reasons, the audience stare at him in silence, before they all cheer up at him as they clap. The judge, crying at Boone's argument, is about to bang his gavel, but Rippen tosses his desk at him, stealing his gavel, so he can blow up Earth when he hits the gavel. Unluckily for him, Penn and Sashi launch the green creature towards Rippen, dropping the gavel as Boone catches it. Boone then sentences Rippen to travel through space forever and hits the gavel, leading Rippen to be trapped in a glass capsule with the creature as they are sent to space.

Rippen's alien minions celebrate that their leader is gone, so they can go eat ice cream. The judge announces the end of this show's episode as everyone comes together while credits appear moving from below to top. Penn aks Boone how did he conquered his fear, which he replies saying that, if you have friends, there is nothing to be afraid of. The cast then waves towards the audience, ending the episode.
