"Plantywood: City of Flora" is the thirty-first episode of the first season of Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero. It premiered on August 17, 2015.

Synopsis[]

In a world where everyone is a plant, Private Detective Penn is excited to unravel a twisted mystery.

Plot[]

The episode starts at The Odyssey, where Penn greets Phyllis, who is preparing dinner. She uses a machine to microwave the dinner, but ends up blowing up, destroying the dinner table. Phyllis picks up the hot dinner and tells they are going to plant world, zapping them in.

Penn gets zapped in as a cactus wearing a detective outfit, saying how this is like his favorite detective series "The Detective & His Trusty Sidekick". Sashi, as a yellow flower wearing a white fedora, tells him their mission may not be like that show and tries to tell the mission, accidentally saying Penn's favorite show's title in the process, annoying her. Boone's voice appear, saying Sashi has been wrong many times before. Penn and Sashi ask Boone where he is, which he tells them he can see everything, but can't stop referring to himself in the third person. Sashi continues to tell the mission; they have stop a tree called "Big Red" from pulling a crime. Penn tells her all they need is a clue that will lead them to "a path filled with a million twists that will blow their minds when they get to the shocking end".

Sashi takes out a file, from a cabinet, that contains Big Red's last known location, saying they should go there. However, Penn gets distracted by a rose entering the room, who introduces herself as Orchid, who Penn falls in love with. Orchid asks them to help her find her missing brother Fern, but Sashi brings her outside the room and closes the room. Penn, annoyed, tells her that, in "The Detective & His Trusty Sidekick", the woman with the problem is always involved in the crime and so they should help Orchid. Sashi doubts as Boone's voice narrates how she has been wrong many times that she doubts herself, so she decides to help Penn with Orchid, but tells him she is sure her case will lead them to a dead end.

The two go to a bar called "The Greenhouse", where Orchid is singing. While watching her sing, Penn sees Principal Larry, who is making shadow puppets, and decides to follow him alongside Sashi. They see Larry talking with Orchid before returning, with Penn and Sashi hiding. He exits the bar, unknowningly dropping a green film roll from his bag. Penn picks up the film roll and tells Sashi they can get clues from its photos, which she tells him they could just check out Big Red's last known location, but he insists.

So, they check the photos, finding one with a pine tree in the background. Penn tells her they need to find him, which Sashi tells him he maybe just photobombing the photo. Penn tells her to trust him as he puts his hand on her shoulder, accidentally poking her with his spikes and leaving them attached to her shoulder.

The two go to the beach and see the pine tree who climbs down his base and runs away. Sashi then surfs on a surfboard and tosses it infront of the pinetree to block his path and then smacks him with it, pinning him into the ground. Sashi asks him why was he running away, which he tells her he was doing exercise. Sashi asks him if he recognizes Larry in the picture he photobombed in, which he affirms, telling them Larry made a flowerpot-shaped sand sculpture. Penn asks him about Larry's business, which he shows them a picture of a vase from a museum named "Museum Of Botanical Arts", telling them there is going to be an exibition there. Penn concludes Larry is going to steal the vase, which Sashi tells him that makes sense.

While Penn and Sashi are wandering on the street, they see two mushrooms following them, so they decide to split, with both mushrooms chasing Penn. Penn ends up on a dead end, but, thankfully, Sashi beats both mushrooms. Penn thanks her for saving him and both high-five, accidentally poking Sashi with his spikes again.

Penn and Sashi go to the Museum Of Botanical Arts as they see Larry, who greets them and asks them if they wanted to see the vase. Penn tells Larry he and Rippen are going to steal the vase, which he tells them Rippen isn't here and that he is going to pour weed killer into the city's water tower, quickly realizing he accidentally told Rippen's plan. Penn asks Larry why is Orchid with him, which she tells him she was looking for her brother Fern, who wasn't missing and was just on a business trip. Penn then asks him why were they talking backstage, which he tells them they were talking about lunch recommendations. Penn then asks about the two muhrooms who were following them on the street, who appear behind him and tell him they were just trying to return his wallet. Sashi apologizes to the mushrooms, saying they wouldn't have bothered them if they went to Big Red's last known location. Penn apologizes to Sashi for taking his detective role too seriously, telling her he will listen to her more often.

The two go to the sprinkler plant on a car as Rippen takes out a bag of weed killer from his car trunk. Penn and Sashi try to stop Rippen, but he drops a bunch of barrels, knocking the two. The two see Rippen climbing up the ladder to the sprinkler plant, so Penn tells Sashi he saw a helicopter at the beach and that they could use it to reach and stop Rippen, but Sashi tells him they can just take the elevator as she points to one with Fern inside. Penn and Sashi go to the top of the sprinkler as Rippen tells them it's too late as he spins the water tap. Penn tosses one of his spikes, which lands below him. Rippen teasingly tells him he missed, which Penn tells him he didn't aimed at him. The bag containing weed killer gets torn, spreading weed killer and affecting Rippen instead, who falls off the sprinkler. Larry brings Rippen and plants him on a flower pot along with him, which Rippen tells him he wants his own flower pot. Penn and Sashi view the city as the sprinkler's water drops down like rain before they go away, with a black screen with text saying "THE END" showing up, ending the episode.
