"Sentinel" is the fifty-second episode of Gargoyles, and the fortieth single-part episode of the series. It aired on February 19, 1996.
Plot[]
The world tourists arrive on Easter Island. Angela and Bronx vanish after separating from the group, and Elisa has somehow lost her memory of her identity, but her common sense remains. Goliath follows her to a hotel where a pair of archaeologists are staying at. He takes her back to the statues at the shore, where they are assaulted by an unknown being.
Goliath awakens to find himself held captive with Angela and Bronx, learning that an alien has taken them captive, as he stubbornly believes them to be enemies in an intergalactic war called the Space Spawn. This being known as Sentinel, used a device to remove false memories on Elisa, believing the gargoyles had brainwashed her; though she's confused now, her true memories will return in a short time. As his profession doesn't allow prisoners, Sentinel prepares to execute them; however, Goliath continues to plea against this wrongful accusation. Despite the conflicting words of Sentinel and Goliath, Elisa still trusts the gargoyles. As Elisa trusts them, Sentinel decides to do so as well, since she could only trust them still if her true memories was of them being allies.
