Salli Elise Richardson-Whitfield is an American television and film actress, voice actress, and director. For Disney, she provided the voice of Elisa Maza and Deliah in Gargoyles. She also played the role of Angela in A Low Down Dirty Shame, Tamara Barnes in the CBS/ABC Studios TV show Criminal Minds, U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Weston in the ABC TV show Castle, and Marguerite "Maggie" Baptiste in the Freeform TV show Stitchers. Additionally, she directed an episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., an episode of Luke Cage, and an episode of The Punisher.
Richardson was born in Chicago, Illinois and attended the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. She launched her acting career in the Kuumba Workshop theater there; she graduated in 1985.
Richardson's film roles ranging from supporting to leading actress include Prelude to a Kiss, I Am Legend, Mo Money, Posse, Sioux City, Pastor Brown, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, and Black Dynamite. Her television credits include Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, New York Undercover, The Pretender, Stargate SG-1, NYPD Blue, House, Bones, NCIS, and as Dr. Allison Blake in the sci-fi comedy-drama Eureka.
In recent years, Richardson has also taken up directing. Some of her behind the scenes work includes Queen Sugar, Underground, Rebel, Scandal, Survivor's Remorse, and Black-ish.
