"Ransom" is the second episode of Gargoyles: The Goliath Chronicles.
Synopsis[]
Alex Xanatos is kidnapped, inciting the wrath of both Xanatos and Lexington. Lexington tracks the culprit down, but ends up caught in a trap and to be used in mayoral candidate Doyle's speech to the public. Lexington discovers that Doyle is the kidnapper. Lexington secretly tells Elisa to get the Clan and save Alex. After escaping, Lexington saves Alex and returns him home to Fox and Xanatos. The episode ends with Lexingon turning to stone as he rocked Alex; Alex gave Lexington a kiss on the check.
Trivia[]
- If one pays close enough attention, Lexington does pay for the stuffed toy he gets for Alex; the gargoyles are not thieves.
- In the toy store, there are 2 life-sized lions which bear a striking resemblance to Mufasa and Simba (as a cub) from The Lion King.
- Owen is said to have been knocked out during the abduction of Alex; thus, he couldn't revert to Puck to save Alex.
- Though Xanatos appeared to be unconcerned about his son's kidnapping, he was actually thinking about his future. If he complied with the ransom demand this time, Alex would be used again and again as a hostage; as a result, it could lead to both humility of the Xanatos family and the destruction of the Manhattan clan.
- The episode originally was supposed to be about Lexington and Puck teaming up to get Alex back from three Avalon tricksters: Coyote, Anasi, and Raven.
