Nokkar is a character from the Disney animated series, Gargoyles.

Background[]

Nokkar is an alien Sentinel who inhabits his post on Easter Island when he was sent to Earth to protect it from a group of aliens known as the Space-Spawn, in case they reached Nokkar's hideout which is his spaceship on Easter Island. He also befriended the native people who lived on Rapa Nui and shared the mission with the people living there where they built moai statues as a sort of tribute to him. However, until 1996, Nokkar did not encounter gargoyles until their arrival at Rapa Nui.

During his encounter with the Manhattan Clan, Nokkar mistook the gargoyles for a group of aliens exploring Earth which when he first encountered Elisa, the latter belived that he was the one who brainwashed her, leading her to undo the amnesia he caused in the first place. This resulted in Elisa's memories to be erased. Nokkar later captured Goliath, Angela, and Bronx and imprisoned them in his spaceship but when Elisa finds out that Nokkar is attacking them, she realized Nokkar's antagonism and even threatened to kill him with a weapon inside the ship. Elisa managed to save her friends in time. Later after escaping from the ship, Elisa convinces Nokkar to trust in gargoyles which Nokkar tells the Manhattan Clan that their genuine must be loyal, causing him to accept Goliath's trust.

Role in the series[]

In "Sentinel", Nokkar detects the Manhattan Clan (with Goliath, Elisa, Angela, and Bronx) arriving at Easter Island part of the Avalon World Tour which as the group explores the Island, Nokkar appeared in front of Bronx and shot him with his being struck with his blaster, much to Elisa's shock. Soon as Goliath and Angela approach Bronx who was knocked unconsciously, the two find out that Elisa has disappeared, resulting in amnesia on Bronx who was struck by Nokkar. He then attacks Bronx again while Elisa approaches a duo of archaeologists, Arthur Morwood-Smyth and Lydia Duane, to know where she exactly is at, which the two of them explain that the place Elisa is at is Rapa Nui, aka Easter Island just as Elisa tells them to take her to safety at the Islander Hotel. Nokkar then sees Angela flying in the air which he shoots her with his blaster which Nokkar mistook her for a Space-Spawn alien, injuring her in progress.

After Goliath tries to convince Elisa to remember who she was before she got amnesia, Goliath figures out that someone must have caused her the amnesia, finding the culprit behind this; with Angela and Bronx captured by Nokkar then tells the two that they have been sent to "invade" this world which he mistakes them for the Space-Spawn just as he plans to capture Goliath and send him to his spaceship. During a conversation with Goliath and Elisa discussing with each other about what really caused the latter's amnesia, Nokkar suddenly appears in front of the two, mistaking them for aliens as it is revealed that the fake Angela which Goliath tried to heal was a hologram created by Nokkar. Just as Elisa approaches Nokkar, he introduces himself to her, which Elisa explains that if he caused her amnesia which Nokkar replies that he is, which is a temporary side effect which he caused to neutralize his enemies' mind-tampering, telling Elisa that she has been brainwashed and true memories will return slowly. Soon as Nokkar takes Elisa to a secret hideout, he shares his story that the hardships of the galactic war taught him long ago that trust is a rare and precious commodity not to be given like him to which just before entering the spaceship, Elisa discusses with Nokkar to know about the truth behind the amnesia which Nokkar replies that it could be arranged, taking her to the secret hideout.

Later inside the spaceship, Angela recaps that once Nokkar spotted her and the rest of the Manhattan Clan, he mistook them for other aliens not part of his species just as Angela continues recaps that Nokkar is a soldier whose fleet is defending the galaxy from an army of interstellar invaders ever since Earth has been a strategic outpost ever since the war began centuries ago, they dispatched Nokkar here to act as a Sentinel which Goliath doesn't understand why Nokkar attacked and imprisoned at which Angela replies that Nokkar must have mistook the Manhattan Clan for aliens Nokkar and Elisa arrive at the area where Goliath, Angela, and Bronx are imprisoned.

As Nokkar introduces himself, he explains to Goliath that the moai were a lasting tribute which he befriended long ago to protect for eons, planning to start his mission after considering to abandon his post, trying to ask Goliath who sent the Manhattan Clan to Rapa Nui after telling him that he cannot identify the planet where they live at trying to ask little doubt to know who sent the Manhattan Clan there. As Elisa tries to remember, she confronts Nokkar to know how devious his species can be, Nokkar tells her not to fear only to find out that Nokkar's plan is killing Elisa's friends, leading Elisa to save them from a tongue-like weapon emerging from the big blue egg which Elisa uses a laser cannon to rescue them just as Bronx pounces on him in combat while Goliath holds on the tongue to help the Manhattan Clan find a way to escape. During battle, Nokkar throws Bronx at the tongue-like weapon which Angela is on in revenge just as Nokkar commands the weapon to kill the Manhattan Clan only for Goliath to ride on it to cause it to make it fire on the sides of the spaceships to make holes for their plans to escape, just as the weapon is destroyed in the process. Nokkar then engages in combat with Bronx he knocks him onto a wall, just as a falling piece falls on him, leaving him unable to attack. However, before Goliath could escape, Nokkar manages to get up and confront him in a single combat, threatening him to tell his allies that Nokkar will never abandon his post just as Nokkar knocks him into the ship's controls. Just as Goliath damages the controls, a massive explosion occurs on Nokkar's ship, knocking out Nokkar.

Soon as Goliath escapes Nokkar's hideout while trying to leave Rapa Nui with the rest of the Manhattan Clan, Nokkar's spaceship suddenly emerges and attempts to attack the group. Just before Nokkar can leave, he warns Elisa that he will forgive his judgment but only if he steps away which Elisa replies that she has her instincts and the gargoyles are her friends even though they are Nokkar's enemies which Elisa explains that they are her friends which Nokkar warns her that she leaves her no choice, trying to believe in the gargoyles as well. Nokkar then approaches the Manhattan Clan and discusses that his mind-cleansing process destroys only the false memories, telling them that their genuine must be loyal which Goliath tells him that he and his clan are protectors, guardians, which Nokkar recaps that in the past times, he shared his mission with the natives of Rapa Nui centuries ago, trying to look for someone to trust which Arthur Morwood-Smyth and Lydia Duane approach Elisa, which she tells him to trust him, thinking they are good people to give him company just before the Manhattan Clan leaves Rapa Nui.
