William Merritt Steger (1920-2006) was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

Steger was nominated to the Eastern District of Texas by President Richard Nixon on October 7, 1970, to a new seat created by 84 Stat. 294; he was confirmed by the Senate on November 25, 1970, and received commission on December 1, 1970. Assumed senior status on December 31, 1987. He served the Eastern District of Texas until his death on June 4, 2006.[1] Steger was succeeded in this position by [Richard Schell]].
