Bairon Wykes, also known by his code name Thunderlord, is one of the six Lances of Dicathen, representing the Kingdom of Sapin. He is the heir to the Wykes Family as well as the older brother of the traitor Lucas Wykes. Later, when the Wykes family betrays Dicathen and welcomes the Alacryan invaders, he abandons them and sides with the Dicathen resistance, including Arthur Leywin, who recently returned from Alacrya.
Appearance[]
Like his younger brother Lucas, Bairon possesses pale skin and platinum blonde hair, combed over to his left. His head is oval shaped with a strong jawline. Bairon is very tall and imposing, towering over most people, including the king of Sapin, with piercing green eyes. As a Lance of Dicathen, Bairon is mostly seen wearing his white uniform with a red sash as well as his ring bestowed upon him by the Council.
Personality[]
While he has not been shown interacting with most people, Bairon is a very serious person who takes his duty seriously, unlike his arrogant, spoiled, and lunatic brother. Bairon is shown to be a proud warrior, as while he received assistance from the resources of his family, his natural fighting prowess and mana control were mostly achieved by his own merits, and believes those who seek to grow stronger should do so by their own abilities. While the extent of his relationship with his family is unknown, he takes pride in his family lineage and is willing to defend them should any harm come to them, specifically his younger brother Lucas. This is shown when he was willing to kill Arthur for the brutal murder of Lucas, and would have succeeded, if not for the intervention of Olfred and Varay. He was also willing to hurt the Leywin family if not for the protection of the Elven King and the Asuras.
However, after his family sided with Alacrya, he abandoned them and sided with Virion. He also let go of his pride and grudge against Arthur as he regretted Arthur's death and was trying to protect the Leywin family. When he reunited with Arthur after the fight with Taci, he was in tears and embraced him. Also, when he had the chance to talk with him, he apologized to him and no longer blamed him for his brother's death. As of now, he has abandoned his pride and lineage.
Background[]
Bairon is the first born son of Otis Vayhur Wykes and the older half-brother of Lucas Wykes. Like his younger brother, Bairon grew up in a household of experiments to create stronger mages from the Wykes family. He attended and graduated from Xyrus Academy as one of it's top students.
Quotes[]
- (To Lucas) "I heard you were starting fights. Do you think you're good enough to waste time fooling around? Are you going to continue to rely on our parents, wasting thousands of gold on trying to forcibly make your pathetic self stronger? Or are you finally going to actually try on your own?"
- (To Taci) "Burn, little deity."[1]
Notes & Trivia[]
- Bairon is first mentioned by Kaspian Bladeheart after Arthur hurts Lucas ear, telling Arthur to not do anything until he can hold off Lucas half-brother.[2]
