Geist is a veteran adventurer and a former professor of Xyrus Academy, in Practical Mana Manipulation. Giest was relieved of his position after he abused his students and was defeated by a member of the Disciplinary Committee Arthur Leywin. Following this, the same boy who defeated him was appointed as the new professor of his class.
Appearance[]
Geist is a tall and bulky man, with short brown hair and beady eyes. He wears a black bandana and armor over his brown shirt. He also wears a small cross shaped pendant around his neck. As a professor of Xyrus Academy, Geist wears a black cloak over his uniform.
Personality[]
Geist is full of himself, acting arrogant, rude, and condescending to anyone who even slightly annoys him. Geist prides himself on his abilities and his career as an Adventurer as well as a professor at Xyrus Academy. However, Geist does not truly care about his students, as he takes advantage of his position to bully and harass them. Geist is very perverted and lecherous, always shown surrounded by women and being more interested in the young girls who take his class. Geist was shown to be very egotistical, as he perceived anything minor that happens to him an insult, such as when Arthur, who was a young child when they met, accidentally bumped into him and tried to use mana to force Arthur to his knees, and later sinisterly provoked Arthur into fighting him so that he could humiliate him.
Synopsis[]
Geist was a well known vetern Adventurer. After his retirement, the Director of Xyrus Academy, Cynthia Goodsky hired Geist to teach Practical Mana Manipulation. To test Geist, he was only assigned to teach one class to see whether he had the qualifications to teach more students.
Season 3[]
Geist was first introduced walking around with two women, when Arthur accidentally bumped into him while lost in thought. Despite apologizing to him, the intoxicated Geist felt insulted by Arthur's inconvenience, and tried to force Arthur to his knees with his mana. To Geist's surprise however, Arthur would not submit to him, and was intimidated by the child when he demanded Geist to take his hand off of him, causing Geist to jump back in fear. Embarrassed by Arthur, Geist ridiculed Arthur over treating a professor of Xyrus Academy in such a way and even threatened to make his life a living hell if he ever attended. Arthur however, was unfazed by his idle threats as he openly welcomed Geist to try as he tossed Geist's pendant to his feet as he walked away, surprising Geist as he didn't realize Arthur had taken it.
Season 4[]
On the first day of the new semester of school, Geist showed more interested in the young women who were present for his class, until he noticed one of the students was Arthur, the same boy who had humiliated him. Seeing an opportunity, Geist called out to the Disciplinary officers who were taking his class; Arthur, Kathyln Glayder, and Feyrith Ivsaar III. In an attempt to provoke Arthur into fighting him, Geist baited the officers into presenting their abilities to the class. Feyrith was the first to approach Geist, who promised to only use long range attacks in their spar, claiming it to be an excuse if he were to lose in their spar. Geist then activated the surrounding barrier and began their duel. Feyrith took the first move by unleashing his flood domain, before attacking with a Water Serpent. Geist however was able to overwhelm Feyrith by piercing through his spell with a fireball. Just as Feyrith put up a barrier to shield himself, Geist pierced through his mana barrier as well, before changing the trajectory of his spell to hit Feyrith's leg. Feyrith was forced to concede, as Geist looked at Arthur with a sinister smile.
To Geist's surprise, Kathlyn was the next to step forward. Geist bowed before Kathyln, claiming it was an honor to duel her, and asked that regardless of the outcome, she would not hold anything against him. Once the duel commenced, Kathyln began by firing a barrage of ice spears at Geist, only for Geist to counter them with his Ember Wisps. Surrounding Geist in shards of ice, Kathyln then unleashed a large Ice Tornado to entrap Geist. Geist however was able to disperse the tornado with his Ember Wisps as he fired his balls of fire directly at Kathyln, who neglected to form a barrier to protect herself. Realizing Kathyln would not be able to protect herself in time, Geist dispelled his attack, but was unable to stop the lingering flames from approaching Kathyln. Before the flames could reach Kathyln, she was suddenly saved by Arthur who carried her to safety. Geist, in an attempt to save face, claimed that Arthur's interference was unnecessary and that he had the situation under control, claiming he was about to cancel the spell before it could hit Kathyln.
Having had enough of Geist, Arthur stepped forward with his sword in hand and challenged the veteran Adventurer. Geist then did the same as he gave Arthur the choice in however he wished Geist to fight him, but Arthur claimed it didn't matter what method Geist used. With his sword augmented in blue flames, Geist charged at Arthur, who parred his attacks with relative ease. Seeing that Arthur was only defending himself, Geist tried to provoke Arthur into attacking him, however Arthur claimed there was no need to do so as Geist couldn't land a single hit in the first place. Enraged by Arthur, he attempted to catch the boy off guard by using Flame Pillar to attack Arthur from beneath his feet. This did little to effect Arthur however, as Arthur was able to close the gap between himself and Geist. Now having pushed Geist back against the barrier, Arthur unleashed Tempest. Geist tried to block the attack, but was overwhelmed by the boy's powerful wind spell. The barrier was shattered and Geist was left laying on the ground defeated, as Arthur hovered over him, sarcastically thanking Geist for his lesson.
Director Goodsky would later learn about Geist's actions from Kathyln who voiced her outrage over Geist's misconduct and demanded that he be punished accordingly. Geist tried to defend his actions and even demand that Arthur be removed from his class, however Cynthia had already launched an investigation and trusted Arthur more than she did him. Geist was promptly fired from his position, and as further humiliation, Arthur became his replacement as Professor of Practical Mana Manipulation.
Relationships[]
Arthur Leywin[]
Arthur was a student of Geist's Practical Mana Manipulation Class. Arthur had already invoked Geist's wrath however, long before he attended Xyrus Academy. In their initial meeting, Arthur had accidentally bumped into Geist, and despite apologizing, Geist insulted Arthur, claiming he was ill mannered and even went as far as to use mana on Arthur to force him to his knees. Arthur thought very little of Geist as he was intoxicated at the time, however he had a low opinion of him due to his poor manners and violent behavior. When Arthur used his aura to intimidate Geist, he was initially startled by Arthur and felt embarrassed by him. Upon reuniting as teacher and student, the animosity between the two remained the same. Seeing an opportunity for revenge, Geist baited and bullied Arthur's classmates to spar with him, so as to provoke Arthur into dueling him. Arthur became enraged by Geist's actions as he wounded Feyrith and nearly fatally injured Kathlyn as a result of his recklessness. Geist was utterly mortified by Arthur, who defeated him in their duel by using only his weakest attributes. Geist was further disgraced as he was fired for his actions and was replaced by the very boy he tried to humiliate.
Abilities & Skills[]
While he is arrogant and egotistical, Geist was by no means weak. His career as an Adventurer as well as his ability to augment blue flames was more than enough to be recognized and hired as a professor at Xyrus Academy. As a former Adventurer, it can be assumed that Geist has had a long history of exploring dungeons and combating strong mana beasts, one of which was implied to be an AA-Class beast. As a professor of Practical Mana Manipulation in Xyrus Academy, Geist was in charge of the curriculum surrounding utilizing the basics of mana manipulation as well and it's practice in combat. Geist preferred a more hands on approach when it came to education, rather than rely on lectures.
Augmenter: Geist is an augmenter mage, therefore someone who can use magic within their bodies to enhance their attacks, but at the same time also able to shoot out magic after reaching a certain level. Even without his elemental attribute, Geist is still capable of overwhelming people with just his pure mana, and is strong enough to keep his full power hidden from detection. His major weakness however is his recklessness, and neglect in controlling the power of his spells, as shown when he nearly fatally injured Kathyln in their mock duel.
Fire Elemental: As a Light-Yellow Core mage, Geist has a single specialization in the attribute of Fire. Geist's control over his flames is not to be underestimated, as he not only can control blue fire, but is also adept at fighting at both long and close range. Although as an Augmenter, he prefers to fight at close range. Geist's fighting style is very aggressive, as he will bombard his opponents with overwhelming flames.
- Fireball: Geist launches a ball of blue fire at his opponent. While Fireball is a basic flame spell, Geist's control over fire allows him to use much stronger fire that can cancel and overwhelm his opponent. Geist is shown to be capable of manifesting more than one fireball.
- Ember Wisp: Geist charges an abundance of small fire balls that he rains down at his opponent. While the spell is quite powerful, it's major weakness is it's inability to be fully controlled, as the lingering flames created by the spell can still effect the surrounding area. In Geist's duel against Kathyln, he was unable to stop the balls of fire created from his wisps from attacking her.
- Scorch Field: Geist emits a layer of heat around his body. Geist used this spell to melt the surrounding ice that enveloped him.
- Flame Pillar: Geist channels a large amount of fire in his hand and unleashes a stream of blue fire from beneath his opponent. Geist was shown to use this spell in conjunction with his swordsmanship, to distract Arthur and attack him while he was off guard.
Swordsmanship: Geist is shown to wield a large sword in combat that he augments with his blue flames for more powerful attacks. Geist is shown to be a capable swordsman as he was able to swing his large sword with relative ease and was shown to be capable of fighting Arthur before he implemented his wind magic.
Quotes[]
(To his class) "As you all know. This class is 'practical mana manipulation'. Which means we'll be doing things very practically, and by that, I mean through example."
(to Arthur) "I'm sure the Disciplinary Committee isn't made only of rats who keeping dodging and running away!"
Notes & Trivia[]
- Given his mana level, Geist's Adventurer rank is speculated to be either B or A-Rank.
- Geist's role is expanded on in the webcomic, first appearing at the end of Season 3, picking a fight with Arthur. This serves to explain why his initial demonstration went awry as he was looking to get back at Arthur for that past incident.
