Vincent Helstea is the founder of the Helstea Auction House. He is also the husband of Tabitha Helstea, the father of Lilia Helstea and the best friend of Reynolds Leywin, whom he appointed as his head of security in his Auction House. He also sponsored his child Arthur Leywin to attend Xyrus Academy.
Appearance[]
Vincent is a thin proper man, standing at about 1.7 meters in height. He has brown parted hair, with a small, brown beard on his chin and reddish brown eyes. Vincent is normally seen wearing suits with his trademark glasses.
Personality[]
Unlike most noblemen, Vincent is kind, generous, laidback, and friendly. He holds no prejudice towards anyone of lesser status than himself nor does he abuse the power he holds over his staff. Vincent is an empathetic man, as he welcomed his best friend into his home after he seemingly lost his son to a bandit attack. He also seems to despise slavery, despite allowing slaves to be auctioned at his Auction House. Although, he does this to satisfy other people's hedonism, he still feels guilty for making profit out of other peoples plight. Vincent is an honorable man, always keeping his promises, whenever he makes a deal with others. As a merchant, Vincent can be very business minded and serious, when the situation demands it, especially when it comes to his Auction House.
Background[]
Vincent was born into the noble Helstea House, which had been in the trading business for generations. Over the years, their family would decline in influence and business, until Vincent took over as the patriarch of his family. With his vast knowledge of trade and his skills as a merchant, Vincent was able to single-handedly bring his family’s asset to an all new high after building the first Helstea Auction House in Xyrus City. Later on, he expanded his business by building several more auction houses within neighboring cities. During his expansion, he met his dear friend Reynolds Leywin for the first time, when he was on a trip to Eksire City in order to build an Auction House there. Reynolds was there with him at that time in order to fulfill an escort mission that the Guild had assigned him with. On their way there, they ran into trouble with bandits. After Reynolds saved Vincent, they hit it off pretty well and became good friends. At some point, Vincent met and married his wife Tabitha, while some time later his only daughter Lilia Helstea was born. Despite neither him or his wife having any capability of becoming mages, Vincent hoped that his daughter could one day become one herself.
Abilities & Skills[]
As the patriarch of the Helstea House, Vincent has full control over all the Helstea Auction Houses and their assets, including all the products and merchandise that are sold in them. Reynolds describes Vincent as someone, who is a man of brains rather than brawn. While he has no talent or potential in becoming a mage, Vincent more than makes up for his lack of magic with his capabilities as a merchant, being able to acquire unique items and countless beast cores as well as mana beasts with his resources. As many citizens, adventurers, noblemen, and even the royal family of Sapin rely on the Helstea Auction House, Vincent has a large influence over who may or may not participate in his auctions. Thanks to his influence, he also has many connections to important figures in the country. In fact, he once used his connection with Cynthia Goodsky, the Director of Xyrus Academy, to get Arthur Leywin and Elijah Knight into Xyrus Academy.
Quotes[]
- “Rey... your son. Do you realize the kind of future he has? He’s only eight, but he’s already stronger than a veteran B rank Adventurer," Vincent said, hardly able to contain his excitement.[1]
Notes & Trivia[]
- Vincent is ranked 13th in the comic's character popularity poll, receiving 206 votes.[2]
