Claire Bladeheart is the niece of Kaspian Bladeheart, and a sixth year battle mage student of Xyrus Academy, as well as the former leader of the Disciplinary Committee. After being critically injured during the Attack on Xyrus Academy, Claire's mana core was shattered, leaving her unable to wield magic. She became an instructor for soldiers at the Bladeheart Sword Institute.
Appearance[]
Claire oozed positivity and passion from her very pores. She wasn’t nearly as pretty as Tess or Kathyln, but she possesses her own charm, with grey eyes and long scarlet red hair that went down to the bottom of her back, that she keeps tied in a ponytail. As a member of the Disciplinary Committee, Claire wore a black military-style uniform, but instead of an golden cord like the Glayder siblings, both her shoulders had gold epaulettes. She wears navy blue pants with knee high boots, with a rapier strapped to her waist.[2]
After the incident at Xyrus Academy, she retains a large scar on her lower back.[3]
Personality[]
Claire is a cheerful, but responsible person. One of the reasons as to why she was chosen to lead the Disciplinary Committee is her strong sense of justice. She also has no problem managing the Disciplinary Committee members and assigning them roles. In fact, she places deep trust in all of her colleagues and is very attached to each one of them. This is why she was extremely shocked, when she was betrayed by Kai Crestless. Moreover, she also feels guilty when some of her teammates died as she wasn’t able to protect them from their demise.[4] Despite her inability to use magic as a result of her injury, she remains resilient as she tries to help out where she is needed.[5]
Background[]
As a child belonging to the Bladeheart family, Claire's father instilled into her the four following values: humility, loyalty, resoluteness, and courage.[6] She received training from her uncle, Kaspian Bladeheart, as soon as she awakened her mana core. At some point, she enters Xyrus Academy as a battle-mage student, becoming one of the top students. In her sixth year, Director Goodsky chose Claire to become the leader of the Disciplinary Committee and is tasked with picking other members to join the committee.[2]
Abilities & Skills[]
Claire was considered one of Xyrus Academy's top students,[7] given the fact that not only did she come from a reputable family of swordsmen, but was also a dual-elemental mage. Coupled with her natural leadership, Claire was considered the strongest student of Xyrus Academy and as a result was appointed as leader of the Disciplinary Committee. Claire's strength was further recognized by the fact that she had the potential of surpassing her uncle, a renowned AA-Rank Adventurer and master swordsman, if she was given a few years.[8] As leader of the Disciplinary Committee, Claire is responsible for leading and organizing her team to carry out their patrols as well as have full authority to exert force against the student body who act out, and utilize her mana without the need to initiate a duel.
Augmenter: Claire is an augmenter mage, therefore someone who can use magic within their bodies to enhance their attacks, but at the same time also able to shoot out magic after reaching a certain level. while her physical strength is nowhere near as strong as Theodore, Claire more than makes up for it with her abilities in magic as she was capable of fending off against large hoards of mana beasts single handedly. Like her uncle, Claire is shown to fight at both close range and long range, as seen during her duel against Clive Graves. After the destruction of her mana core, Claire has lost the ability to use magic and is unable to withstand the suppressed aura of powerful mages like Varay Aurae.[5]
Dual-Elemental: As a dual-elementalist, Claire has a specialization in the attributes of Fire and Wind. Like her uncle, Claire's abilities come off as though she were a conjurerer as she is capable of shooting out both wind and fire like projectiles from her sword. After her core was shattered however, Claire unfortunately lost the ability to use either of her elements.
- Burning Lance: Claire channels a large amount of flames into her rapier, before lunging at her opponent.
Swordsmanship: As Claire was trained by her uncle Kaspian, Claire was trained in the art of fencing, attacking her opponents in quick and sharp thrusts to pierce his opponents rather than using slash attacks. As such, she wields a rapier, which she augments with wind and fire during a fight. While Claire is no longer able to use magic, her abilities as a swordsman have not diminished, and is shown to still be a formidable sword master even after losing her core. She is shown to be an instructor at the Bladeheart Sword Institute, training a majority of capable soldiers.
Quotes[]
- (To Arthur) “I guess I'm next, although the order is off! My name is Claire! Claire Bladeheart. After the new changes in the school grade system, I'm considered a sixth-year battle mage student with dual attribute in fire and wind, and I'm also the leader of the disciplinary committee! I'm an augmenter like yourself, so just ask me if you have any questions!”[2]
- (To Arthur and Curtis) “We can’t embarrass the DC name now, can we? I’ll make practice extra hard for anyone who doesn’t meet standards!”[7]
- (To Tessia, Kathyln, and Curtis) “You know... I really have come to terms with my injury, but if there’s one thing I regret, it’s being unable to fight by Arthur’s side during the war.”[5]
