Lances are a group of powerful individuals chosen by the monarchs of their race to receive a powerful artifact handed down by the previous kings and queens. These artifacts were previously given to the lesser races by the asuras, to allow them to grow in power. The individuals who receive them have silver mana cores, but the power of the artifact allows them to break into the white stage.
As it turns out in chapter 396 the artifacts, in addition to bringing the mages to the white core, create imperceptible damage to the walls of the core, invisible unless the mage uses Mana Rotation. This damage, while not affecting the use of magic, prevents the mana from touching the core walls and purifying it to the integration stage. This was done by Kezess Indrath to prevent the Lances from becoming a threat to the asuras themselves.
In the same chapter Arthur, using the new artifacts donated to Virion, takes care of the cores of the three remaining Lances.[1]
History[]
The three races possess two lances each, whose duties are to defend the monarchs, but they remain unknown to the common people. They remained in the shadows until the current monarchs of Elves, Dwarves, and Humans decided to come together to form the Council of Dicathen. Together, they announced the Lances to the rest of the continent.
Led by the Council of Dicathen, the lances reside in Dicathen. Aliases or code names are used by the receivers of these artifacts, as they used to operate in the shadows. After the recipients of the artifacts were made public as the Lances, the code names are rarely used, and eventually became obsolete due to the war.[2]
