Nico Sever is one of Grey’s best friends. He wasn't much of a fighter, but he was good at inventing Ki items during his past life. During his childhood, Nico fell in love with Cecilia and eventually, the two of them get engaged. Nevertheless, at some point in the story, Nico witnesses how Grey kills Cecilia during the King's Crown Competition, which ultimately broke the three of them apart. Even after Nico died in his past life, he held onto his hatred even into his next life as Elijah Knight. He awakens fully only after he is brought back to Alacrya after the attack on Xyrus Academy.
Se the Elijah Knight page for more information of Nico's time as Elijah.
After training with Melzri, Viessa and Mawar for four years, he sets out on a mission along with Cadell, to capture Tessia in order to make her the vessel of the Legacy. The first attempt is twarthed by Arthur at Telmore, with Sylvie sacrificing her body in order for Tessia and her companions to escape. Nico later ambushes Tessia after her fight with Biial and suceeds in capturing her this time, and the Legacy, Cecilia, is anchored to her body. He later appears with Tessia - or rather, Cecilia - at a gathering in Eidelholm. Aldir and Windsom appear and the Kingdom of Elenoir is destroyed by Aldir using the World Eater Technique. The pair teleport away in the nick of time and avoid any injuries.
At the Victoriad, Nico responds to Arthur's challange in a fit of rage. The fight is cut short, however, as Arthur makes quick work of him, shattering his core. After Arthur escapes, Cecilia heals his core much to Agrona's facination. It is incomplete, however, he later obtains a regalia and Nico crafts a special wand that will help him to use mana arts.[3] Cecilia healing his core broke Agrona's spells on his mind and allowed him to regain his memories as Elijah in Dicathen.[4] He was filled with guilt and remorse that he had allowed and encouraged Agrona to tamper with Cecilia's mind. Similarly, his hatred for Arthur had lessened considerably, allowing him to figure out that Agrona was manipulating both him and Cecilia.
After some setbacks during the second invasion of Dicathen, Nico, along with Agrona and Cecilia, travel to Sylvia's Cave in Dicathen with the help of Ji-ae. There, they find Arthur in a comatose state because of the fourth keystone. Cecilia refuses to kill Sylvie when told to by Agrona, and Nico desperately tries to explain to Cecilia that he is simply using them for his own benefit, to which Cecilia responds she already knows. As punishment for refusing his order, Agrona brutally impales Nico on blood iron spikes. His lifeforce slips away just as Arthur awakens from the keystone.[5]
Nico and Cecilia are reincarnated in another timeline, their memories still intact, and they live as husband and wife, with Cecilia taking Nico's last name, Sever.[6]Appearance[]
Nico is a young boy with short, black hair and fair skin. His eyes are sharp and cold as steel. Prior to his reincarnation, he had softer features and boyish features and often had a toothy grin on his face.
Personality[]
Back in Etharia when he was living at the orphanage along with Cecilia and Grey, he was a bright young boy with a passion for inventing, much like Gideon. He preferred books and studies over fighting. After Cecilia was kidnapped, he grew cold and distant, desperately searching for her and the perpetraitors. Nico and Grey drift apart more with each passing day, and Nico becomes almost obsessive in his search for Cecilia. Him witnessing Cecilia's death on Grey's blade after trying to infrom the latter of the conspiracy about the Legacy, his hatred for Grey reaches a new level, wich reflects his personality in his new life. He has grown cold and cruel with little regard for others. He often expesses annoyance and irritation of those around him, and is very quick to anger.
Background[]
Nico was an orphan brought to Headmaster Wilbeck's orphanage, where he befreinded the troublemaker, Grey. After Cecilia arrived at the orphanage, a friendship quickly blossomed between the trio. This however, put them all in danger on several occasions as Cecilia's identity as the Legacy was highly sougth after by people in power. Nico had little fighting prowess, and preferred to create creative inventions using ki instead, including a special glove for Cecilia too help control her ki.
Nico developed a strong crush on Cecilia, which she eventually reciprocated and they later got engaged.
During the trio's academy days at Wittholm Academy, Cecilia is taken by the government, and during this time, Nico desperately searches for her, eventually uncovering the circumstances of her kidnapping. However Nico is in turn captured and tortured, and only manages escape when all attention is focused on the King's Tournament. There, he tries to tell Grey of his discoveries about lady Vera and the goverment, but Grey dismisses him.
During Cecilia's fight with Grey in the King's Tournament, she choses to purposefully die on his sword in order to save Nico from his torturers, saying he will never be safe as long as she exists. Nico does not realise Cecilia chose to die herself and believes Grey purposely killed her, allowing Agrona to use this as motivation for him to do his bidding when he is reincarnated.
He was reincarnated into the body of Elijah Knight and was sent from Alacrya to the Kingdom of Darv where he was fostered by Rahdeas, with the goal of him growing close to Grey, now in the body of Arthur Leywin, in order to obtain the anchors needed to reincarnate the Legacy. His memories of his past life as Nico are sealed, but surface after the attack on Xyrus Academy, and Nico, now with all his memories (although some are manipulated, sealed and/or crafted by Agrona), is brought to Alacrya by Draneeve and appointed a scythe. He trains with Melzri, Viessa and Mawar for some four years before he is sent to the war in Dicathen, making his debut at the Bloodfrost Battle.

Cecilia: Cecilia is Nico's childhood friend and lover. He greatly cares for her and motivates almost all of his actions to be for her and for them to be sent back to Etharia and live together. Once they are removed from the world by Arthur using Fate, they are reincarnated in another timeline where they live as husband and wife.[6]
Grey: Grey was Nico’s best friend during their childhood. Later, Nico witnessed how Grey "killed" Cecilia (in reality, she killed herself), which turned them into enemies. He harbors a great sense of hatred and has a severe inferiority complex towards him, both as Arthur and as Grey. Eventually, Nico starts to see through Agrona's manipulation of both him and Cecilia, and starts questioning whether Grey is as evil as he believes or not. Eventualy, he realises he has been in the wrong and that only Grey can save them.
Draneeve: Draneeve is the one who brought Nico back to Alacrya, although this was done much to early for Agrona's liking. As punishment, he was assigned as Nico's personal attendant.[7] Nico initially hates Draneeve and constantly tries to make his life as miserable as possible. Eventually, he grows used to Draneeve's presence and takes a likning to him, even starting to trust him. He goes so far as to help Draneeve escape from the Vritra's clutches after he is gravely injured by Chul.[8]
Agrona: Agrona constantly belittles Nico and expresses dissapointment in almost all of his actions towards him. He downplays his importance to Cecilia and manipulates him into doing his bidding. Nico initially respected the High Sovereign, but grew to loathe him as his memories returned and he realised Agrona was manipulating him.
Abilities & Skills[]
Ki items: Nico is proficent at making Ki items such as the glove used by Grey to save Cecilia when they were kids. He brings this skill with him to his new life but replaces the ki with mana.
Blood iron magic: a powerful metal deviant decay-type mana arts used by the vritra clan. Nico can easily create precise and deadly blood iron spikes to brutally skewer his enemies and friends alike.
Soulfire: a powerful metal deviant decay-type mana arts used by the vritra clan. It creates black, unextinguishable flames that burns mana and its victims from the inside.
Mana staff: after his core is shattered by Arthur, Cecilia brings it back together, however it is incomplete and he crafts a special mana staff that allows him to still utilise mana, although not at proficiently as before. With this, he can manipulate spells in a similar manner to how they do in Dicathen, without the help of runes. The staff also allows him to utilize all four standard elements (earht, fire, water, wind).[3]
Regalia: this regalia allows his mind to connect to the truth of any material he works with. It allows him to create powerful artifacts.[3]
Flight: as a scythe, Nico is capable of flight.
