The Council of Dicathen is comprised on the Kings and Queens of each nation in Dicathen, and was created when Alacrya was discovered.
History[]
After the discovery of a new continent, Alacrya, was made public, the royal families of all the 3 races renounced their claim to the throne and established a new governing body to overlook the continent as a whole. This governing body is known as the Council and it consists of seven members—the King and Queen of each race, and Commander Virion. The Lances are also often present at Council meetings. The Council is situated in the flying fortress, the Castle.
Slavery Reform[]
Not long after the union of the three races, the leaders of all three sides made a collective effort to abolish slavery. However, getting rid of slavery in one fell swoop would not only cause dissatisfaction amongst slave owners, but there would be severe ramifications in the economy by essentially getting rid of a large portion of the kingdom’s workforce. In order to remedy this, one thing that the Council had been working diligently on was taking a step-by-step approach; rewarding owners who freed their slaves and heavily taxing owners who kept slaves. While slavery existed in all three kingdoms, there had always been a high demand for dwarven and particularly elven slaves from Sapin. [1] The reason behind this lies in the fact that a lot of noble families in Sapin practiced interbreeding with their dwarven or elven slaves so their children can have a better and more wide-ranged potential as a mage. Lucas Wykes was a product of that practice. The Council had banned interracial slavery a few years ago, but it was still going on in Ashber Town until Sebastian‘s demise.[2]
