Robert B. Maloney is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan.

Early life and education

A native of Dallas, Texas, Maloney graduated from Southern Methodist University with his bachelor's in business administration degree in 1956 and from Southern Methodist University School of Law with his J.D. in 1960.[1]

Maloney was appointed by President Ronald Reagan on July 23, 1985, to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333. Hearings on Maloney's nomination were held before the Senate Judiciary Committee on September 11, 1985, and his nomination was reported by U.S. Sen. Strom Thurmond (R-S.C.) the next day. Maloney was confirmed by the unanimous consent of the U.S. Senate on October 16, 1985, and he received his commission on October 17, 1985. Maloney elected to take senior status beginning on August 31, 2000. He was succeeded in this position by Judge David Godbey.[1][2]
