Jimm Larry Hendren is an Article III federal judge serving on senior status for the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas. He joined the court in 1992 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush. Hendren served as the Chief Judge of the Court from 1997 to 2012. On December, 31 2012 Hendren assumed senior status for the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas, after serving on the court for 20 years.[1]

Early life and education

Hendren graduated from the University of Arkansas with his bachelor's degree in 1964 and his J.D. degree in 1965.

Military career

Hendren served in the US Navy JAG Corps consecutively from 1965 to 1968 and 1969 to 1970. Also Hendren served as a Lieutenant Commander for the US Navy Reserve, from 1970 to 1983.[2]

Professional career

Hendren served in private practice from 1969 to 1977 and 1979 to 1992 in the State of Arkansas. Also, Hendren was a probate judge in the Arkansas 16th District Chancery Court from 1977 to 1978.[2]

Judicial career

Western District of Arkansas

On the recommendation of Congressman John Hammerschmidt of Arkansas, Hendren was nominated by President George H.W. Bush on November 5, 1991, to a new seat created by 104 Stat. 5089 which was approved by Congress. Hendren was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on March 13, 1992, on a Senate Vote and received commission on March 18, 1992. Hendren served as the chief judge of the court from 1997 to 2012.[2] On December, 31 2012 he assumed senior status, after serving on the court for 20 years.[3]
