James Travis Trimble, Jr. is an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana. He joined the court in 1991 after being nominated by President George H.W. Bush. Trimble is a judge serving on senior status.

Early life and education

A native of Louisiana, Trimble graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge with his bachelor's degree in 1955 and with his law degree in 1956.[1]

Professional career

Trimble served on Active Duty in th U.S. Air Force as a Member of the JAG Corps from 1956 to 1959 before becoming a private practice attorney licensed in the State of Louisiana from 1959 to 1986.[1]

Judicial career

Western District of Louisiana

Trimble began his Federal judicial career as a federal magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Western District of Louisiana being appointed to a eight-year term in 1986 and served in the role before being elevated to the Federal Bench in 1991. Trimble was nominated by President George W. Bush on June 27, 1991, to a seat vacated by Earl Veron as Veron died in Judicial Service. Trimble was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 12, 1991, and received commission on September 16, 1991 before later assuming senior status on September 13, 2002.[1] Trimble was succeeded in this position by Patricia Minaldi.
