Biography

Gary Howell was born in Cumberland, Maryland, and lives in West Virginia. Howell graduated from Keyser High School. He earned an associate degree and a B.S. in management from Frostburg State University. His career experience includes working as a small business owner.[1]

Howell is the president of the Keyser Rotary Club. In 2006, the State Journal named him a Top 40 West Virginian Under 40. He is the recipient of the 2003 United States Small Business Administration Exporter of the Year for West Virginia Award, and received the Governor's Commendation for International Market Entry in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010.

In 2013, Howell was elected vice chairman of the interstate, bi-partisan group of legislators called the State Automotive Enthusiast Leadership Caucus. This group seeks to raise the profile of the motor sports hobby in state governments and in the public.[13]
